Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I´m finally gettin´ mine. He should arrive next week.

And although I have to say that TDK is a great movie and I love watching it, I must say that BB is more fluent and TDK as many logik failures and gaps.
Where is the old Wayne Tower, no word about the narrows, no WIP of the Batcave, or the "new" mansion?
B:GK should´ve closed those gaps and not introduce some stylized interpretations of Bats, or those late night shows could´ve also done the job.
Hope the third will clear up way more...

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Well, I just went to the fabric store yet again and found a fabric similar to my initial velvet-type fabric that I had used for my BB and TDK figures. However, this is much higher quality and doesn't suffer from the bunching up of the flocking used on the outside of the cape. I just finished up my Begins cape and am about to start work on a TDK cape, and quite honestly I think this fabric is perfect.

For $26.99 a damn yard it had better be.

A few early pics of my Begins cape. Got a few rough edges/threads to snip here and there but, as you can see, unlike the last velvet material I used, the folds and such of the cape do not capture light. It's pretty much a black void, even with the flash.

That fabric is perfect, nice deep black.
I want to make one just like that for my Original as well. Is that pattern from the Takara cape? Because the original one doesn't hang like that.
Where did you find it?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I found the fabric at JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts, if you have one near you it should be on the back wall on a roll with the rest of the velvets. There are two versions, this one and one with a more brownish black hue. This one is more accurate.

The pattern was originally the Takara cape, however I did not cut the curved batwing pattern into it so it would lie flush on the ground. The crescent shape is preserved, but the batwing pattern isn't. Pretty much the same shape lforigno is using on his now.

Great, thanks
Not to be a pain but was there a "item number" or something that they can look up if I can't find it.

After the effort, comfort... Some pictures ! :wink1:
I realy need a better camera.
Like I'll definitely make a more accurate cape, I think I'll fix that belt too (a bit sloppy for my taste :pfft:).

Very nice poses, lighting and photos :clap

Yup, I enjoyed them :hi5:

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

nice
Did you just stuff the cape into the slots, no clips right?
Also is one yard enough for 2 capes?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Yeah, I just stuffed it in.

I'd say a yard would be enough to make three capes, if you go with the length I used for my TDK one. The Begins one took more material because it was a much larger cape, but I still have enough for one more TDK cape. So I'd say 3 with a little bit left over.

Beautiful presentation here crow, this figure can just look so amazing with the right lighting, there's a certain look to the colors of the armor that when the photo lighting captures it, really makes it look even better, and this shot has that going for it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

did the neck mod and removed the balljoint, looks A LOT better! No need at all for a V1 neck! Didn't even have to reapply the balljoint either, just cut it off and the neck stays on its place just fine, its a really tight fit!

Will post pics tonight after work!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Also, if you make a little fold in the 2 ends of the cape, and glue it down, and after it's dried you push the folded ends in the holes of his armor, that works great, and it stays put alot better than when you just shuff it in lose!

I subscribe to the philosophy that more photos are always welcome in a forum so dependent on photos!

Hence my ____ load of pictures I have plastered all over the place :lol

Did the neck mod, and posted some pics of it. This is the DX neck! Now it maybe doesnt look like much difference, but before I could not pose my batman with his chin up, because it made him look rediculous!

before ( with his chin ALL THE WAY DOWN MIND YOU!):

after (with his head looking straight forward):

this is how, you simply cut out the ball the neck attaches to. And thats it! When you press the neck further down, it's a very snug fit, so there's no need for any further hasle, you lose the neck articulation though because there is basically no room for it to move, but since the headsculpt has a lot of free movement its not much of a hasle, and it DOES LOOK ALOT BETTER.

hope that helps!
