I bought my DX without the stand, and am having a hell of a time getting him to stay up on the regular stand (the kind with the Y between the legs, not the hook around the waist).
The Y stand keeps spreading out, pushing Bats' legs apart, forcing him to fall over. Right now, he's got a foot on each side of the stand (not actually on the stand), precariously standing. Anyone have any ideas how to make this stand work better for him? I'm looking to buy a DX stand soon, but for now this is what I've got.

I think they are realy designed to be wedged up into the crotch. Have you tried that?
Or better yet, be like me and ditch the stand!
And just use the base (if you like the way it looks).

Does he stand up good without the stand? I wanted to try that, but was afraid he would tip over. I personally hate the big DX base/stand. Im limited on space right now & that thing really takes up room. Not to mention it looks a lil weird for it to be so big & Bats is placed at the back of it where the stand is, leaving excess space in the front...

All you have to do is take out the metal rods, and twist them till they are close together. don't worry about snapping them because they are bendy. after that put it back to the plastic post and they will stay close together.

Mine stands great without a stand. I have never ever had a Hot Toys figure topple over, and none of my HT figures are on stands.
I do like bases though. And the DX bases look awesome if you don't use the stand. I agree that having him backed up with all of that base in front of him looks weird, but it looks awesome with him standing in the middle of it:
God, I really hate stands... I hate to even contemplate how much this image would be diminished by the presence of a stand.
...I'm off to the Things I Can't Stand thread...

I wouldn't use a stand either. I've read some people got permanent marks in the inner thighs because it squeezes on the rubber.

I don't think look wise it makes alot of difference wether or not you lower the balljoint or simply cut it out, the former being harder to do.
articulation wise I think there's a little loss, but not complete loss, it's IMO still better than a fully articulated giraffe neck lol.
As the last pic suggests, the neck IS bended forward a bit, just not very much
And I'm not sure how to securely reattach the balljoint without it breaking off again as soon as you swap necks?

Your mod really appeals to me now, not only in terms of looks but also for the fact it would make swapping the heads over so much easier!!

Did a neck mod similar to lforigno's. I don't have access to a dremmel, so carved the V1 neck down by a few mm, and removed the metal part in the PERS head and because of the thickness of the neck, the head fits snuggly on. When I can get access to a dremmel or something then I will mod it a bit further to that can use magnets and such.
Not entirely sure about it. Some times when look at it, it looks great, others... not so sure. If I decide I don't like it then I'll just use the original neck because when posed right I think it can look great. This was just to pass the time.
