Re: Hot Toys-MMS207-Superman III- 1/6th Scale Evil Superman Collectible Figure

I'm really surprised HT went so subtle here. Just a more extreme repaint, darker clothing and more weathering would have made this potentially attractive.

There is no way I cannot buy this. Even if its exactly the same as the previous version. My love for Superman is that great.

I am unfortunately feeling the same way, however right now I am leaning more towards passing. My hope is that the final product will look a little better.

Yep. I don't mind that its not majorly different than the original. There are plenty of people here who buy more than one of the same piece anyway.

I love Superman and especially Reeve Superman so I too think I'm gonna cave and get this.

Can always mod the sculpt/paint ? I know that's not the point but just saying.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS207-Superman III- 1/6th Scale Evil Superman Collectible Figure

I'm surprised that no one has pointed out to you, that the above original Reeve head there, was the prototype sample - BEFORE production.

They changed it.

The new figure is the exact same head as the previous production head - although they may... have altered the frown ever so slightly. :wink1:

It's been pointed out to me several times. Thanks anyway.

Bought! Easy purchase.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS207-Superman III- 1/6th Scale Evil Superman Collectible Figure

I think he needs to be a bit darker and dirtier though.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS207-Superman III- 1/6th Scale Evil Superman Collectible Figure

Superman III was the first Superman movie I saw in the theater when I was a kid, it still is my 2nd favorite Reeve Superman movie and my 3rd favorite in the Superman films in general.

Superman The Movie
Man of Steel
Superman III
Superman II: The Donner Cut
Superman II
Superman Returns
Superman IV

This is getting purchased! I only hope I can order more than 1.

Just saw this.

Base is awesome.....but at least include some red kryptonite as an accessory ....give us something!
Maybe have the some redK on the base that lights up.

....was so long ago, I think it was redK that turned him bad in Superman3 right? :D

I think so. I actually have no idea either...

The Kryptonite was still green in color. Gus Gorman tried to create Kryptonite from scratch, but there was an unknown element so he substituted it with tar. Ross Webster asked him to kill Superman and he couldn't even do that one simple thing.... It's really sad I know all that. :lol

Yup. This is from Wikipedia:

Gus and Vera, disguised as United States Army officers, give Superman the Kryptonite as a gift, but are dismayed to see that it appears to have no effect on him. However, because this version of Kryptonite was not perfect, the compound gradually produces symptoms. Superman goes through a descent into darkness as he becomes selfish, focusing on his lust for Lana, which causes him to delay rescuing a truck driver from his jackknifed rig. Superman begins to question his own self-worth. He becomes depressed, angry, and casually destructive, committing petty acts of vandalism such as blowing out the Olympic Flame and straightening the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Superman III had one of the coolest scenes in the Christopher Reeve series... the fight between Superman and Clark Kent was A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I still love that movie, just for that scene.

One of the most effective anti-smoking propaganda placements in history! Helped balance the depiction of smoking elsewhere in the film.

I've actually come to like Supes III (and even IV!) with time. They're more comic-book-style than the first two, and for me that's part of the charm.

If you can get past Supes III being a Richard Pryor vehicle ...

Re: Hot Toys-MMS207-Superman III- 1/6th Scale Evil Superman Collectible Figure

Except that it's Richard Pryor + Superman, which, for me, = Insta-winning.:lol
