Seriously folks..Is anyone here really that surprised that a successful company will try and reproduce the same sales on a 'new figure' if all they have to do is to minimally manipulate pre-existing materials ?

In other words, cut as many corners as possible, to save as much money as possible, to generate as much return as possible?

Having said this, I am all in for this for my wife. She is a real Superman 'mark' and her love of Chris Reeve's definitive take on the character (so much better developed and rounded as a character than the cardboard-cutout that poor old Henry Cavill was asked to play) has not faded since he first took on the role.

Her very first 'personally hers' HT was the Exclusive Superman figure (I also bought her the regular, just to please her inner collector) and I am hopeful that if this sells, we may yet see a Zod, Ursa and Non.

It would make sense to mirror the two Superman universes in terms of releases, a Superman from each, a Jor-El from each, and a Zod from each...?

Now if they released a Zod and CK from this line, I would be so happy! I completely share you and your wife's opinion about CR being the uptime Supes!

They'll do as little as possible and sell a ton of these.

Most of the time HT and SSC give us all-new sculpts for variations of the same character, so no complaints there. The exceptions seem to be some Toy Fair exclusives: Evil Supes and Dark Side Anakin to name a couple.

Yeah.. the customs school this.

It was a nice thought in principle; an evil Supes from the film, but whenever I see the figure now, the word RETREAD just flashes up in my mind.

Those customs look great for sure, but I don't know why peeps want HT to do a dirty Supes. In the movie, the costume isn't dirty, just darker!

But sure, an updated sculpt with kryptonite accessory would have been a nice touch...

It looks great, but, after seeing all of the other cool **** today, I'm not sure I can afford to buy a variant of the same figure that I already own.

It's just you; the only difference is painted on shading instead of natural shadow.

Unless Hot Toys Revises their current head (Which is exactly the Chris Reeve head used for their HT "Superman" initial release figure),....I will be passing on this one. Now, if Hot Toys sees "All" the negative feedback on this current figure, and decide to alter the head to resemble these CR head below............Put me down for (2) Evil Superman figures pronto.
C'mon Hot Toys.......Give us the true (Evil Superman III) movie version......pictured below. PLEEASE!!!

I don't understand all the plees for HT to change this.

First of all, all the Convention exclusives have already been made. This is not a prototype, this is the actual product.

I can't say for Comic-Con, cause i've never been, but here in Hong Kong, these exclusives are ready for collection at Ani Com (that starts next week). That means, these are already finished its production run, and won't be further "developed".

I have a hunch, there were boxes and boxes of unsold CR Superman's left in their warehouse, and they just took them out added some stubble, brushed the boots, the hair, the S, and the cape a little bit and called it a day. But thats just what i think.

This thing is pretty much a done deal isn't it? I would imagine it is already being produced along with the other con exclusives. I'll be surprised if any changes are made.
