Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

With a delay this long I’m guessing they ran into a similar prob that Qmx did with Mal namely the paint being lousy. Qmx delayed, informed the customer, paid to produce a new run of better quality heads and included the original poor head as a bonus, partly to show “even though the delay was a drag, aren’t you glad we fixed this”. Being their first 1/6 they knew they had to have a winner. If M8 has suffered a similar problem they have handled it in the exact opposite manner as Qmx, but then again, they were founded with lies so more of the same shouldn’t be a surprise.

I guess someone on Facebook was contacted by M8 saying an update was imminent, that was days ago. This company man.....

I knew I’d seen it somewhere!

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

I don't think it would be so bad if they said " hey guys we're delaying it a few weeks to improve the product as the paint wasn't up to standards"
But to keep bulls**ting us with some " update will be coming soon today or tomorrow" yeah this is exactly why I have no faith in them anymore.
This is a constant thing like give us an update at where the figure is so we know!

Your only as good as your customer base..... after this it's gonna take alot for me to want to buy from them again...I don't care how good the product is. :lecture

Owen, let's forget Lennon and concentrate on Morrison.

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

You've never heard of upfront money? You can't be serious. Sorry, but what you said is not correct. It's often called a "signing bonus". Most of the negations/contracts are about advance vs royalty + percentage, with royalty percentage winning out most of the time, granted.

However, it's in no way royalty over upfront money 100% of the time and down to the individual deals and available assets. Not sure where you got your info. Depending on the license and circumstances involved, a retention or an advance of sorts can be needed to hold the license for a set time until production and sales commence.

Yoko has a well-known license/likeness rights, so she may well have negotiated an advance/retention/signing bonus because she won't want an unknown company holding the 1/6 license for 2+years without something in return. To say Yoko hasn't had money is just guessing, as we'll never know, but I'd be surprised if she didn't want at least something upfront because her perceived value of Lennon would be higher than anyone else's.

I don't think M8 are deliberately scamming or planned to scam, I personally think they are just a very poorly run company by someone who clearly doesn't know what he's doing.

I dont think they are a very poorly run company. they clearly know what they are doing. they are just deliberately scamming.

I dont think they are a very poorly run company. they clearly know what they are doing. they are just deliberately scamming.

I'm of the complete opposite opinion.

They've spent tens of thousands of dollars just in securing the Lennon license.

On top of that, they've hired sculptors in KA Kim and Mike Hill ... I think his name was, to do Wonka. And someone else to do that Arthur sculpt from The Tick. They're clearly spending money.

They've put money into production, as evidenced by the samples they've shown at that Hong Kong show.

To spend all that money to get $300 pre-orders from maybe 200 people tops ... the math just doesn't add up. It's not like 1,000 people all lined up to pre-order.

Even if they were scamming, they've spent maybe $50k to get $60k. It just doesn't make any sense. It's literally smarter to put $50k in the financial markets. Someone that wants to scam someone isn't going to go through all that.

If so, serves them right for promising unnecessary crap like a metal skeleton who nobody asked for and hiring top notch talent only to show renders and sub-par prototypes.

I just wish someone else would announce that they have the license for Taxi Driver.

you said it doesn't make sense but admitted they are actually doing it. what is your point?

Re: Molecule8 - 1/6th Scale John Lennon

Whether they "set out" to scam or not does not make much of a difference...I will actually give them one tiny benefit of the doubt and say they set out to make and release a figure. Unfortunately they did not know what they were doing, fell into a hole, and became scammers to desperately attempt to claw their way out. When they typed..."figure is complete we are giving retailers a chance to stock so will not release in May...all pictures you see are from the past so we can give collector's a look at the process that brought our completed figure to life..." when all the while...this was over a YEAR ago remember...there was no completed figure...they became scammers.

Yea I can't believe that people on here don't actually think they are scammers.

I still stand by the fact that they are not scammers... they are just people who have absolutely no clue what they are doing. They got way in over their heads and they will either attempt to dig out or suddenly we will hear they up and disappeared for the sake of not losing any more money.

A company who doesn’t know what it’s doing will not hire few of the best sculptors and painters in the industry to make prototype headsculpts, to entice collectors. Lol, the reasons you mentioned above are simply one who has no experience in running a business; Vijay ain’t one of them
