Well I see things have continued quite a bit since I got off earlier. I SO wanted to keep my order, but I really have no experience weathering or repainting something and there was a good chance I would make it look even worse. Also I didn't really feel like sending the whole statue off to a professional to have it done when this shouldn't have happened in the first place. And like I said earlier I was actually contemplating canceling him when all we had were the proto pics. The next big PF for me is gonna be Mystique, if they release these according to when they put them up for pre-order, and if they mess her up there shall indeed be hell to pay.

If mine shows up with super bright red clothing, rather than the burgundy as it was shown, I'm sending it back.. and I may end up canceling my Berserker order as well.

I already have Lurtz, and the Berserker just isn't different enough to justify owning it.

For the amount of money SS is charging for their collectibles, there is no excuse for the discrepancy between the original photos and the final product.

From the moment the pictures were posted on the board, from people who have received their MO, the discussion arose whether it was the quality/lighting etc. of the pics that made the MO look bad, and in particular the red cloth. So I decided to use my photo editing software and try to make a comparison picture. Even when I changed the hue to more greenish, lessened the gamma and highly turned down the saturation, I couldn't make more of it than this picture. I hope it speaks for itself.

It still looks off to me.

Yeah it definitely still looks off to me too. Like I said I can do without this piece even though it is a nice sculpt. I have enough PF's pre-ordered as it is.

So does anyone have a picture of Moria Orc from the movie so we can see what color it really was? Maybe it's not so important now after all since the material SS used is totally wrong..

I think at some point or another we have heard what the markup is to produce a lot of these pieces. What these things cost to make in China to the price charged by SS (or any other company). When a fiasco like this happens, it is the responsibility of the company to fix it. No excuses, no settling for "I guess I can live with it", no compromising, etc. Paying hundreds of dollars on a statue is still spending HUNDRED OF DOLLARS ON A STATUE last time I checked. We deserve to get what we ordered. It's really that simple.

This is the reason why there should never be cancellation fees. When stuff like this happens you need to be covered. I know people see it as a way of deterring flippers, but what you are really doing is creating these type of collector traps when something sucks and you have to cancel but you feel you can't because you get penalized. Whatever perceived benefits of cancellation fees don't come close to the benefits of taking care of your core base of collectors. In the end, that's your bread and butter so you better be good to them. Just ask Gentle Giant.

Make sure you type in why you cancel on the comments box as you do it.

Im beginning to seriously wonder if SS gets a shipped physical TRUE AP to approve prior to proceeding with the full manufacturing run.
If they do, then why would they approve this red? If the AP wasnt red, then they need to hold the factory responsible and force them to eat the cost of fixing it.
I fully believe all the factory errors are just that, factory errors and they disappoint SS just as much as the fans. I also think the error SS is making is not coming down on the factory as hard as they should to kick their ***** into gear. The factory needs to be hit in the $$$ somehow to force them to make some QC procedure/standards changes in their process

Ive been saying for awhile now that APs arent TRUE APs anymore and havent been for awhile.
All the APs you guys have that think theyre really a TRUE AP, I'll bet are un-used replacement pieces numbered AP after they realize theyre not needed as a replacement. The days of real APs are long gone ....

I'm not even going to reply the "ignorant" comments. Not worth my time.

What I will say is I know that the Galadriel lips were too red, that they changed the Aragorn p.f. , and that my I. Jones p.f.'s coat is too green and too short....I don't know maybe I'm ignorant for even noticing these things.

Good god its one of Santa's Elves..............overworked and underpaid and he's had enuff!!

Sorry but waaaaay too red, looks like a Xmas special edition. Love the sculpt though. Pity...........:monkey2

Your gonna be keeping him Loki?

Oh hell yeah!!! He's going right next to Frodo. I was just hoping to get him by Christmas though I am happy he didn't hit my last CC cycle at it is kinda outta hand

I think it may be a bit premature to be canceling things (of course, I don't know when this is shipping).

The outfit on this may very well turn out too red, but how many times have we seen early pictures in which something was off, only to have it not be an issue when more pictures come out?

Even the Indy PF has been a roller coaster ride of "the jacket looks green" and "his skin tone is too dark", when it doesn't look that way at all in person. I suggest keeping a level head on this matter and see what develops.

Well said. I had a few thoughts about this as well. These so called AP's don't fulfil their purpose anymore. At least not those that get handed out during contests and so on.

And in regards of 'value', I don't think the SSC AP's are worth more than the pieces of the final run, UNLESS they would be REAL AP's. But, it seams they are just the same PF, except for the 'AP' on the base.

With Indy and the Creature SSE shipping back to back I just cancelled this one myself. I would have sucked it up and fell further in debt, but not for this. I'll wait for some more inhand pics and decide later on. Lord knows this will be on second chance so I'm not worried about picking it up later on.

If anything I'm glad sideshow now has a why are you cancelling your item. I was more than happy to give them a review of their product and how it different from SDCC to now...
