so no one has watch fotr since this piece was released?
It would appear most are only judging the color based on the proto pics -- could it be that the proto is wrong?
even if the proto is wrong, it was what was advertized.

Proto could be wrong, but that's not the point. Plus, I don't remember seeing any Orcs draped in bright running around Moria. I'm quite sure the costume color was chosen due to the lighting conditions in the film. Regardless, we were sold on the weathered and burnt burgundy look of the prototype that was presented to us. Not the Santa red that we're seeing now. I think this warrants legitimate complaint. Especially considering I'm not earning a 6 figure salary and my hard earned dollars are being spent on this thing. I've dealt with disappointing purchases before, but I've got to draw the line somewhere. To add, I have neither the talent, time or extra cash to be trying to fix something that shouldn't have been broke to begin with. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt to prove it. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. My pinky toe hurts. End rant for the day.

Looking at these pics again I'm beginning to think that It IS the same colour and material. It's just that the prototype has been treated to look more stained, which gives the impression of a darker tone.

"treated" as in the statue itself being modified, or the photo being post-edited in Photoshop? Folks who have seen the prototype up close and personal on display say the statue looked pretty much the same as the one posted on the SS website. Totally different shade of red/burgundy here. There's no denying it. Materials used? Sure. Color? Hell no.
I just need Sideshow to update their picture of the true color so that I can decide what to do - cancel it or keep it.
I did not order the EXCLUSIVE bright red Santa shirt as an option.
If I cancel, then there's no reason for me to pay premium $ for the Lurtz now. I guess I should thank Sideshow for saving me money as I'll cancel the Berzerker as well since I hate having an incomplete line of these bad guys.
I'll retract my statement before about Moria Orc > Lurtz. At the current state, Lurtz > Moria Orc.
I did not order the EXCLUSIVE bright red Santa shirt as an option.

If I cancel it'll make it that much easier for me to abandon the PF line altogether. No need to try to score a Lurtz at this point. It will certainly save me more money and save space in my house.
It's a fact that the chinese factories that work for Sideshow are not experts in weathering cloth. The prototype is supossed to be "treated" or painted by a profesional artist...and that's why we don't find as much detail in the final product, it would be difficult for these factories to dedicate so much time to every single piece. We've known about this for long.
I still think it's the same colour, but the weathering,stained effect plus the lightning make it seem a different product. Just MO.
P.s. I suposse you have also noticed the difference in skin tone?

I agree with something Matt said. If the actual costume was this color and NL changed it to what we see. Is that wrong? I dont think so. I mean people in the SW section gripe that they want it to match the costume exactly well if thats what happened here why is that wrong?

Looking at this I'd change and say either the cardinal or the cameilian.
I think it looks bright burgundy.
Whatever shade, I think it looks ugly. And that's what really matters.
