But then people would say that their 1/4 Reeve looks just like Hot Toys except it's sculpted in plastic. NECA wouldn't win.
I'm glad I look at things and appreciate them for what they are and don't have to worry about comparisons or "which is better and will last longer". The DX 09 had it's day of hype and anticipation, that's over now. While I still enjoy it, this NECA 1/4 figure is fresh and a change of pace. Something I DON'T have.
DX 09 Batman is a fantastic 12" collectible high end figure, probably the best figure I own in my collection. It was the first real Batman 1989 figure since Kenner's great work back in 1990. That's roughly 22 years since Hot Toys put out their Batman figure a year ago. It was/is thrilling and new, a great representation of the Keaton Batman. The likeness is perfect, arguably the best Hot Toys has done and it has, few, few problems (PERS panel, rubber suit, etc.) I still get a kick out of looking at it and admiring it on my shelf.
This NECA 1/4 looks to be a fantastic 18" collectible retail figure that's priced really, really well. The Keaton mouth is dead on, only issue it has really is the elongated face/head which has the possibility of being tweaked and looking just as good as Hot Toys' go at the character. Hell, from what I see, I'd say NECA's body sculpt from the neck down is JUST as good if not better than Hot Toys', save for maybe the belt. Hot Toys might be a little too puffy and muscular due to the rubber suit and not as lean as it should be like NECA's.
That's where it ends really. They're both great for what they are, I'm not going to knock either one and I definitely plan on having the NECA version in the same room as my Hot Toys. I'll have em both whether it's $230 or 85 bucks, rubber or plastic.
Now if Hot Toys put out a 1/4 '89 Batman or put out an $85 '89 Batman figure out at retail, then I'd change my tune.
