NECA: 1/4 Batman 1989 Michael Keaton figure

DiFabio's photoshop is utter perfection to Keaton's likeness in B89.

I think the only essentials NECA needs to touch on in terms of 1/4 th movie Batman figures, and what would most likely be the highest movers and ultimately the most important, popular and engaging characters from the films:

Batman (Keaton from B89)
Joker (Nicholson from B89)

The Dark Knight (Bale)
Joker (Ledger from TDK)

All of these would sell like hot cakes.

And MAYBE if we're lucky:

Batman (Bale from BEGINS)
Bane (Hardy from RISES)

And it unfortunately sounds like Bane isn't even a lock, even though he's the most important villain in the series not named the Joker.

I think I'd look forward to a Batman Begins costume in 1/4 from NECA, though I already have the stellar EB figure. I just don't dig parts that are supposed to be cloth but would be sculpted in plastic/rubber, especially at this scale, so I'd leave 1/4 TDKR to HT or EB, even if the price would be 5x higher. The sculpted loincloth on their 1/4 Predator 1 is the one thing that I wish they could have done better on the figure.

I prefer plastic to cloth in virtually all cases. More durable. And to me it in no way shape or form ever ruins the sculpt or accuracy. As long as it is sculpted with care.

Yep Difabios photoshop looks perfect, but he made a little widening AND , he reduced the height too..
look at the gap between the eyes and the mouth.. its too big on the original , and perfect on the photoshop..

Now that my Neca Cap is inside the detolf I have to say that you can't tell it's an $85.00 plastic toy.

All the plastic makes Cap really heavy, I can only imagine how much the Hulk will weigh!

Man, that's so nice to hear! I look forward to seeing Cap then, and now I can't wait to see the actual Keaton Batman figure! I have 2 NECA 1/4 Predators and the 22" Alien altogether in one shelf, and you can't tell that combined they only cost me one DX figure


Just to be sure, you should put Hulk on the bottom shelf, then. The Preds are heavy enough, I can imagine the Hulk to weigh twice as much if he'd be inches taller and wider than the 1/4 preds.

I'd definitely buy both duo (B89 Bats and Joker, Nolan's Bats and Joker). Also, I really hope they make Bane since their Head Knocker Bane is pretty good.

@dulleraxe all we are discussing is what was shown at Toy Fair. West Batman, Keaton Batman, and MOS Superman are coming. Maybe Joker next?

Hot Toys made the point clear that Nicholson was tough to get and the licensing cost $$$. They even made an announcement saying as much, bragging how they're the only company to make a modern Jack Nicholson Joker figure with his likeness.



Can NECA do the same?

DC didn't even touch Nicholson Joker, just Keaton Batman, in their market, I'm not sure the costs of Nicholson Joker are worth it for NECA.

Who Knows, but they have said they are focusing on the movies first so its either Ledger or Nicholson... I would be happy with either one....
