I still don't know what movie the Hot Toys figure is from. I've never seen anything remotely similar to that figure in a movie.

Not to be argumentative, I don't care what company produces a particular collectible, be it NECA or HT -- but I didn't buy the HT Pred primarily because I thought the likeness was so poor, and the joints just stuck out too much for me. I do love my other HT figures though...(mainly from the T2 line).

Pretty damn close....
Not so much...
Don't get me wrong, I think the Hot Toys Predator looks good, but it really looks nothing like the one in the movie. More like an artist's interpretation of another Predator.

I just don't remember anyone saying any of this when the pics of the HT P1 first turned up. When in-hand pics appeared people, myself included, said it was disappointingly small and the mask stuck out too far, but I have no recollection of anyone going as far to say it looks 'nothing like the movie'
Even in light of the more accurate Neca figure I think its a pretty big exaggeration to say that the HT one looks like it is based on 'some other' Predator

The HT P1 Proto pics looked great, when the figure was released it looked like _____. You can still tell that it IS the Predator from P1, but it looks incredibly off.

Well...the HT's Predator does have dreads, mandibles, and two eyeballs, so....okay, it looks somewhat like the one in the movie.

As much as I love my HT p1, Ill be the first to admit that it looks slightly off from the one in the film. Since I am not huge on something being 100% movie accurate, I really dont care(besides the bio mask which is horrible and the how tall he is compared to some of the others). Lucky there is some impressive artist's on these boards and you can find custom masks to make the figure look nothing short of amazing with the mask on. Its an amazing figure and looks close enough to the original that only close inspection you would be even able to notice a difference IMO. I will be picking the Neca 18" if it looks to be how it does in the picture, love the aggressive face and I have been waiting for a bigger predator version that I can actually afford. Open mouth version Neca Predator with the Original HT Custom Mask will compliment each other well.

HT Mask is too chunky, shoulder cannon is too big, face is subtely off, he's too small Otherwise hes fine. Hes clearly the P1.

The face isn't just "subtley" off. It looks like a much younger, feminine version of the Predator IMO. I still love the figure though.
The Bio is definitely the biggest problem with him though, it just looks like a pile of crap that lights up.

The NECA figure wasn't sculpted with the intention of a Bio being added i.e. the masked versions Bio (if it were removable) wouldn't even fit over the unmasked versions face. So yeah, the face looks more accurate but that's also why you have to buy 3 different versions to get the same looks the HT Predator 1 offers right out of the box (Masked, Unmasked, Roaring).

Yep, same reason why the HT Berserker looks the way he does; the actual prop head would never be able to fit under his bio.
