NECA 1/4 scale predator

I think I heard something about that earlier, only US orders. Very strange that NECA ended up taking that route.

I saw some Japan toy web sites listed pre-orders , NECA also cut their POs? Tankman should say something about this.

today,an online retailer told me they will not sell any 1/4 NECA preds because the big retailer canceled all the orders,if you ordered a set,still no preds for you.
need preds? plz go to U.S or Japan.
made in China ,but you can not buy one in China,
unbelievable!

I predordered mine from TRU. Once I get it, I'll make any mods deemed necessary where needed. Something that big is far easier to work on than the smaller scale versions. As long as the sculpt is good, most paint touch ups will make them look so much better.
Take a look at this one Predator that I did a while back. The sculpt was far better than the original so called paint job. The Alien on the otherhand has such a bad sculpt, that no paint job will ever help.
Once you paint up the Predator, it doesn't look too bad afterall.
This new 1/4 pred hopefully will only need minor tweaking, but you can see that a little paint goes a long way in improving an otherwise overlooked figure.

We'll the question is will the final product look as good as the pictures we've been seeing. I can't say what I'll redo until I get it in hand and inspect it up close.

What's going on with this regional exclusive crap?

Hot Toys is doing it with their Jack Sparrow figure. They're including a long telescope accessory only for sale in the US and Japan markets. All retailers in those two regions are not allowed to sell the Jack Sparrow, with the exclusive accessory, to anyone from other countries.

I hope this is not true and I hope this is not becoming a trend.

Whilst I'm at it, here's the blue LED I added to my P1 cannon, .....

.... and you can see here how I smoothed the armor out and put a nice metallic-silver base-coat on it. Still a ways to go, but it's coming along.


*Edit- I'm holding that all funny because I put a small button under the back of the cannon that has to stayed pressed in to light it up.

The sculpt on this is superior, fact!

I can look past the paint (looks good from what we've seen so far) and quality issues as it's a good price and I really like the sculpt.

Its cheap enough that you don't need to worry which is 'better'. If you like what you see here buy it.

Different scale, different markets, no need to worry.

the alien wasn't that bad. it's actually the A3 dog without the dome. i bet it would've looked good with the dome and a repaint. what is the mask you used from? kinda looks like the medicom 2pack one.

Is there any place that masked predator is still in stock?

For a NECA figure its going to be top quality, so its kind of subjective. Keep an eye on the thread for in hand pics to see what you think of the final product.
