...and that's why there will never be an A1 figure.
though there was a good start once.

that's an A1 action figure head.
See those to me don't have half the detail abd accuracy of the film.

Hey, that's my shot. ;)

I'm getting more frustrated with the idea of owning this figure as time passes. I can't shake the feeling that even if I get one that is truly pristine, sooner or later an arm will fall right off. And upon close inspection I'll find that, due to the cheap nature of the plastic they use, it won't be a clean break; the joint will be in several shard-like pieces.

is it cheaper than regular 7'' neca figures, because those never break on me

I've had breakages with those. Feels like the same plastic. Maybe I've just been extremely unlucky, but it comes out of nowhere. I bought a Gears of War figure back in '10 that I carefully, gently posed for display by raising the arm up at the shoulder balljoint. Nothing more than that and certainly not beyond its range of motion. A year or two later, when I sold my Gears collection, I brought the arm back down to hang at the side of the torso and it just fell off. The joint was in pieces.

I'll say this: the hip balljoints on this new 1/4 Big Chap scare the hell out of me. You have to push extremely hard, harder than you might feel is okay to move them and the ratchet makes this sharp, tinny, snap sound rather than a click. It's a beautiful figure and on looks alone, I'm astonished it's NECA, but it feels nerve-racking to handle. What's even worse is that the figure is quite heavy, too heavy for some of the joints to properly hold.

it has a lot better shape and proportions, details are on their places and have correct sizes, mouth opens like it should, silhouette is a lot closer.
but to you detalization is more important than shape, so, as i said, i'm as detailed as your father, much more detailed than any action figure.
please transfer all your funds to me, my son. it's your duty to support parents.

Looking at the shape and proportions the neca figure has it beat by far. Considering it is also based on the rambaldi head...the big chap deserves to have the full detail not just the basic alien look. The shape proportions and detail are all there. This is by far the most accurate figure I've seen.

You can clearly see the proportion is accurate. And when it comes to detail look at the right eye socket of the skull. On is bigger than the other. That is accuracy. Since kyle said it is his favorite film he really wanted to capture the real alien that was used. This figure hands down is the best.

The shape proportions and detail are all there.
the head looks nothing like movie alien head. and i've already shown before how off the proportions and shapes are. cheeks, jaw, mouth, jaw opening angle, head/dome thickness and shape should have been resculpted from that poor old variant - instead it just got that white beak, and that's all.

p.s.

If you can look at those pics and say they are not accurate then I'm sorry you are just in denial.

I know just how much effort and love Kyle puts into these sculpts, and how frustrated he gets when some things are not handled properly by the factory.
All I can say is that I'm really happy with all the work that he has managed to put into this figure.

From what I can see in the pics, it looks amazing.
Can't wait to get mine.

After seeing all the pics of the ALIEN Xeno, I really can't wait for the Warrior to be fully shown. I am really wondering what color they are gonna go with for it though... brown, blue, or black? Maybe they will have variants?

And I would go nuts for a 18" Ripley or Hicks to go with them.

I want a 1/4 dog alien the most.

Yeah, I would definitely want the Dog Alien too! With how well the 7" Dog Alien figure sold, I'm sure it's in the cards for the future if they are already planning on making the Warrior next.

I know what you mean. Plastic just isn't what it used to be, but the stuff that comes from NECA's Chinese factories is awful. I'll use some NECA action figure parts for dioramas and such, but as collectibles? I'm done with them. I don't need to be putting my money towards this plastic crap only to have it end up in a landfill. I'd rather collect original art, or a few rare select pieces than support more of the mass-marketed junk NECA puts out. :(

It's a waste of their sculptors' talents.
