what do u think about ripley's head sculpts (all versions)? in my opinion they re not good, i mean they don't look like Sigourney Weaver (just looking the photo I havent any).
Neca's dutch seems to be more accurate.
do you know if neca will produce more ripley?

They're okay for what they are but they just lack a bit of personality and expression. She needs an action ready head sculpt. I prefer the compression suit head sculpt the most but the '79 line would have looked better with translucent skin IMO.

We're getting a Kenner Ripley from next week, series 8 Alien 3 Ripley and a Resurrection version sometime next year apparently.

In complete honesty the Ripley sculpts haven't blown me away. I mean you can say there's a ''sorta'' Sigourney likeness there but when you look at what they did with Linda Hamilton for Terminator 2 - ****ing nailed it, there's just no doubt. So I can't say that the Ripley likenesses are totally there otherwise I would see it as instantaneously as I see the Linda Hamilton likeness.

Having said that, I haven't been all that pissed off about it. Primarily I'm just glad to have any Ripley figures at all.

Sure the trigger block is a little big, leading to that large gap between the trigger cable cover and main body. But overall the proportions and details look solid to me.
Looks a little undersized, don't you think?

Really don't think so. The real thing was ~48". Weaver/Ripley is a solid 6ft. Gun should only be 2/3 as long as Ripley.

A little optical illusion is at play with it due to the iconic association it has with Vas. Despite all the hype Vaz gets for being 'manly', tough and full of muscles, the fact is she was 5'3". She was tiny, so everything looks bigger than it really was on her and people expect it to look that way for everyone.

That and, again, it is stripped bare there. It will fill out and look right with all its other parts on the 'real' figure(s)

I didn't buy any of the NECA figures of her because I don't see Sigourney Weaver in any of them. The regular figures of her have some serious long diaper action going on as well. To date I've bought regular Hicks, regular Hudson and blown apart Bishop.

The likeness for the Sarah Connor are outstanding. I remember when pics of the final production figure went up I thought she looked weird, like the long haired one was a male rocker for a band or something, but in hand, all three headsculpts are pretty much perfect in this scale. Can't see them being done any better. Only thing that would make figures for that character perfect is if the legs were less spindly and they did another head with sunglasses/no hat and a Pescadero version with swappable jacket.

Got two of the Cinemachines in. Diecast my ass. These things are 100% plastic. I posed the space jockey next to the Palisades micro jockey just to show how craptastic that one was.

Edit: after closer inspection the jockey base might be hollow metal.

I hope they're mostly plastic and not diecast.
Diecast is overrated garbage. There's a reason with the exception of automobiles, that model makers produce things in plastic. Diecast is incapable of recreating high level detail the way plastics can in scale models. Often times, Diecast is also frequently done in cheap pot metal.
I just wish Eaglemoss would drop the diecast elements from their Star Trek line, they detract from the superior looking plastic pieces.

My Cinemachines will be charging and shipping next week, can't wait to have them in hand!

I'll just leave this here.

Looks cool, but I'm not sure I like the concept.

Eh. It looks like Sil from Species had a baby with an Alien Warrior... Interesting, but not something I'd consider. I can only imagine what might break in shipping... :rolleyes2 Besides we already have a queen - she'd just eat the male before he got a chance to get that big anyway. :lol

I think the Ripley sculpts are pretty good so far, and the Hamilton sculpt is superior, but the paint on the 5 Sarah Connor figures I had to chose from detract a lot from would've been an amazing figure. I didn't have the same issue with my Ripleys, I bought all three that have been released sight unseen on the web, and all have been pretty great for a mass market figure. I also agree that the Pressure suit version has looked the best of the Ripleys so far.

Touched up the derelict with some steel highlights and some black and brown washes. Easy mod to the monochrome gunmetal they spray it with.

So the best way I could get the stand to work was to tuck it under the rubber "diaper" which allowed it to stand in an upright position without falling.

Maybe. I just can't help thinking it looks smaller than it did in comparison to Drake.

I like the (wingless) Kenner version better.

Looks great! Are you happy with them?

Thanks. I suppose. I wanted some smaller trinkets for my desk at work. I can't see this stand lasting though. Seems fragile with the weight of the derelict. Would have been better to just have an alien terrain base.

Ah, "Aliens day", eve.

Anyone out there going to celebrate proper? I really wish I had taken the day off work tomorrow.

I'll be at work but surfing the internet most of the day in secret - lol. Actually, that's pretty much every day for me but I have some Neca stuff coming in this week so I should have boxes waiting for me when I get home and I'm definitely watching the Aliens director's cut on blu ray after dinner.

Oh, I got my shipping notice on the Kenner Ripley this morning through Hastings, anybody else who pre-ordered get theirs?

Lastly, anybody see reviews on the cinemachines yet?

Same here!!but Im in Spain! At what time it will begin??? And in japan they will show ripley also...so they have 8hours more than us....
