I am going to catch grieve on this, but...IMHO... The only part than can be reused disregarding smartgun / parts, are the upper/lower arms( sleeveless), thighs,midsection, and chest.
Waist has groin guard strap, lower legs have armor, Smartgun chest armor will have to be "modied " (harness straps are to small to fit torso). new knee joints ( similar to Neca Drake figure would be the simplest), Boots are different as-well ( still dont understand why those are alway painted brown)
I agree! After I thought about it was thinking the same thing. Neca could use the chest/torso area and paint it the color of the flak vest but that wouldnt be accurate, just mostly concealed by the chest armor that would need to be enlarged for a male body. Most of the base marine body would need modified outside of the thighs and boots - hopefully the right color.

Hey, was wondering what your guy's thoughts on this 1/4 big chap I just received from eBay. He's my first alien piece but I have been lurking this thread and on this figure since its release. The inner part of his dome has some type of glue residue or scuff and a slight scuff on the outer part. Also his bottom jaws row of teeth are really out of place. Lastly his leg is a bit warped.
I'm a bit of an experienced customizer so was wondering if I'd be able to remove the dome and maybe sand the imperfections out? The others I could try heating up but not sure about the teeth. This is the closest I could get them closed. It might just be easier to return him. Thanks for your time

Whereabouts in the world are you dude? As for the warped leg dip it in warm water till it softens then reshape and run under cold to set it in a straight position.Hey, was wondering what your guy's thoughts on this 1/4 big chap I just received from eBay. I'm in Jersey and yea, I'm not so worried about leg and maybe jaw as I'm sure hot water could fix that. It's mainly the dome

You could possibly fix via sanding but because the dome is clear you might scratch it more.

Yea that's what I was worried of, especially because of that. Wouldn't be bad if it was stuff I could actually fix but dome doesn't look likely and irreplaceable if I mess up. So... you can take him back now. Thanks

I'd send it back to the seller and get a refund. Was it listed as new? Only 1/4 figs I have in that line is the P1 and Dutch but no issues with mine.

Yea I'm pretty sure, did say box wasn't mint. But these problems are more so QC issues, maybe not the scuff on the outer dome. Wasn't packed very well either. Box was barely holding up and was only in a plastic bag. Really impressed by the sheer size and detail of him tho. Really wish I didn't have to return him

Getting the dome off is really hard.
I tried and failed miserably, ended up detaching the entire upper part of the skull instead of the dome.

You attempted to fix a similar problem? Seller is insisting on me to contact Neca for a replacement. But I know you need to contact store item was purchased from first and list that info.

Here's some pics of my NECA Space Jockey with Kane, Dallas, and acting as a stand in for Lambert (until NECA releases here), Amanda Ripley.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with NECA's Space Jockey. The details and paint job are pretty nice and the massiveness of this set really sells it. Add the Nostromo crew and it really becomes something special.

Mine took a shelf dive and the dome cracked, so I bought another one, but I got the closed lips version the second time around, so I tried to change the dome, but it was impossible.
It's a underrated piece for sure

I have only just decided to open my Aliens Ripley/Newt set that I purchased before Christmas as I was going to leave it boxed as I already had the original Ripley but I thought I might as well as I open all my figures. The reason I try to make sure I open them as soon as possible is so I can exchange it if its faulty as all comic stores in the UK only give you 4 weeks after that I have to keep it and NECA has no CS service for the UK. Now I have been buying NECA figure for over 10 years since Gremlins Stripe figure and have obviously had some bad paint and the odd leg or arm drop off but I was able to return it. But this time I stupidly left it 2 months only to discover Ripley has 2 right hands!! It makes you think just what the MOC/MIB collectors have in there collection as this was not noticeable from the front as it was behind Newt. It wont be worth trying to contact NECA CS as they only just recently said they cant send me any Vasquez decals to the UK even tough that was another mistake on their part. Has anyone got any recommendations other than not buying NECA figures again 
Mine also had an issue that was not apparent until I took her out of the box, same arm. The forearm was rotated with the elbow facing up and the pose and packaging warped it into position sorta wrapped around Newt so simply rotating the arm back around wasn't an option (and I never have good results 'unwarping' something with heat, it always goes back to the warped position)
Anyway it turned out to not be a big problem - I shaved the elbow so it could bend normally and the curve of the arm actually looked fine, no one would know.
As for your hand situation - is there any other figure in your collection she can take a hand from? Another option - if you buy a Powerloader that comes with hands. Failing all that, I undoubtedly have a spare that I could send you since you're only across the water.
