I noticed that. Fans who collect other lines (Marvel, LOTR, UniMonster, Highlander, what have you....) tend to be much more well informed and intelligent. :monkey3

I just realized a nice Willy Wonka analogy.

A large ammount of Star Wars collectors seem to be like Varuka Salt, "I want it now!", where some Star Wars collectors, and a large number of non Star Wars collectors, are more like Charlie, having nothing, and taking each thing that comes to them and treasuring it for all it's worth.

An excellent analogy. :duff

I agree with you and Pix! Great analogy. I'm Charlie myself. I see the entire factory as an experience. I just don't focus on getting everything I want in the first room the very first second. The best may be in the last room, right by the exit.

:lol Scalpers = Augustus Gloop

Many a head has been taken today, and my boots are covered with the splattered bits of whining Star Wars collectors!!!

I have posted much this day, over 50 and kounting... and with it I dedikate my 7,700th post to the Kause!!!

I think we should all continue to make an effort to make whiney SW fans feel unwelcome... this has really gotten out of hand IMO!

I present, the official poem/rhyme/song for the Sideshow Star Wars line.

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing
Is it raining?
Is it snowing?
Is a hurricane a-blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of hell a-glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes, the danger must be growing
'Cause the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing.

AYE GREAT CHIEFTAN OF THE KRUSADE!!! TODAY HAS BEEN ONE FOR THE KURGAN TOME!!! MY SPIKED HILLS ARE SPLATTERED AS WELL FROM THE BLOOD OF MANY SW BEETCHES FROM THIS LAND AND THE FETID SHORES OF REBEL SCUM!!!!!

yeah and Kurgan fun aside, I gotta agree. SW ********* *****fest 2007 needs to come to an end.

While I don't consider myself a Krusader, I am taking a liking to the film, as I've watched it 3 times since buying it last weekend, and I must say, part of the story fits here.

It is the time of the gathering, where all bitter Star Wars fans shall gather and fight for The Prize of most dissatisfied collector, in the end, THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!

We can also some up the goings on with some fitting Palpatine dialogue.

There is no civility, only politics. The Republic is not what it once was. The Senate is full of greedy, squabbling delegates.

Now, I'm not saying everyone in here needs to be an SS fanboy/girl, only that it'd be nice if these threads could be more civil.

Thanks Batty. I define engrossed as the people that petitioned to have the government recognize Jedi as a religion, tax benefits or not, there is some insanity there as well, I'll let my friends shoot me dead before I let myself get to that point.
Those people are sick and perverted.

Everyone knows that "Sith" is more worthy of being officially recognized as a religion.

To be a bit more serious, one thing that I've noticed amongst us Star Wars (and we have to be clear,my serious collecting all began for me with the first Kenner R2-D2 figure at age five back in 1978) is that there's significantly less of the DIY ethic that we find in other 1:6 collectors.

While there a lot of terrific customizers (and customizer enthusiasts) who work with Star Wars characters, a much larger portion of the fanbase demands for each release to be absolutely perfect directly from the manufacturer, and are not interested in making modifications to their figures to increase their quality or accuracy. Compare and contrast this with the Aliens Marines fans, and all of the futzing and repainting and resculpting we do to get the best possible, screen accurate depiction.

I'm as ready for Sideshow to make a Vader as anyone, but, for me, that's more a question of what I'm going to be asking Hurricane to use as source materials come next summer when I can afford to get him to make a Vader for me that will put any off-the-shelf version to shame. I'm pretty friggin' patient. ;D

I'll freely admit that I totally overreacted on this one. It's not that I was expecting Vader, I guess I was just caught offguard by the sheer obscurity of this guy. Once I pulled back and actually looked at the figure for what it was, I liked it enough to order. I gotta learn to keep those kneejerk reactions in check. :monkey5

:rotfl Also fits the Dead line pretty well, but in a different way.

Isnt that from a Marilyn Manson album?

Actually that's from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - the first one wth Gene Wilder. If it goes farther back than that, I can't say.
