Re: HT Tony Stark Suit

So it really does seem like this is a case where one really needs to wait for the new body to be released.

Re: HT Tony Stark Suit

YES!!! we need to wait for the new HT TT NSH. and Tony Stark be perfect!!!:naughty

Re: HT Tony Stark Suit

I got a shipping notice for this guy on Sat, and still nothing yet, is anyone still waiting on theirs as well? Starting to get worried.

I got a shipping notice Saturday too, and it turns out the guys at Toys2 shipped it via airmail instead of UPS like they normally do. I'm in Chicago, and I was told it would take 4-7 business days to get to me as opposed to the usual 3 days it would have taken by UPS.

Re: HT Tony Stark Suit

It said when you placed your order that UPS wasn't available only Canadapost Airmail, if you clicked the pulldown menu you'd see that it was the only option available... The box is very small and they literally just wrap the box no additional padding so it was probably more cost effective.

Yeah, it's funny. I've been ordering from them for almost a year now and i've never had any of my orders ship anything other than UPS. Oh well,
the suit will get here soon enough. :)

Re: HT Tony Stark Suit

Just got my Stark suit. I'm pretty happy with it over all, but that collar and tie are a ^^^^^ to get right. I'm going to futz with that some more later on.

Just got home and what do I find sitting hidden on the front porch? The suit came in. So, now I've got a head, suit, but no body..grr..those true-type bodies sure are a b*tch to find...lol

I can tell you guys with confidence that you will be happier once you get it on a slim shoulder truetype. It helps it a lot. I did crazy intense dremeling the shoulders down to almost nothing and its a big help but I think the actual slim shoulder version will help even more.

Other modification was to iron the hell out of that weird crease that happens over the right shoulder as a result of the asymmetrical pocket stitching, gluing the top of the color shut and replacing the belt with a stronger one so the paints fasten tighter.

Still hate the glasses and the fact that I had to do so much work to get it to look right but at the end of the day I like it. I will post pictures tomorrow night.

Yeah from some angles the shades look like cheap 3D classes. I think I'm going to sew a snap onto the collar to keep it shut tight like the BR Joker has. Then once the tie is pulled tight the collar should be perfect.

For those of you who are curious in how the Stark suit will fit in the new slim TT body, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.

Here are the pics:

Disappointing ain't it:monkey2

Yeah that is. Damn it still looks like crap. Is that the actual slim shoulder Truetype or just a mod? The actual pieces look the same (even the extra large right shoulder) the arms just closer to the torso. Makes me know not to order one just for the suit and jut stick with my regular truetype mod. I sanded down the shoulders just enough to hold the joints in place and sanded the chest slightly. It definitely looks better than the above pics. A far cry fro the century hobby toys2 suit though, I'll post pictures tonight.

The guy at the toy-world forum sanded it down. Making it an exact copy of the slim TT that HT is going to release in Q3.

Dunno what happen, but like what I said earlier, still looks like crap.

As promised:Overall The pics make it look decent enough and it is decent with all of the modifications for sure, but it doesn't look very good in a million different poses (including the Jericho Missile Pose) like Bruce Wayne did when I gave him the Century Hobby Toys2 suit. In fact it was hard to get even one pose it looked good in.

The problem is it is a lot of work and takes like hours of fiddling to get it to look somewhat decent unlike the Toys2 suit which took no fiddling or modding at all and was perfect, and looked good posed in a million different ways, jacket on or off.

Even the glasses look decent in these pictures but they're not. they're ridiculous.

Here's exactly what I did to mod it.

1) Shaved down the chest a little and the shoulders a lot. almost nothing is left there other than the joints that connect it to the body and bicep.
2) Glued the collar shut because it would not stay shut for the life of me.
3) Swapped out the belt with my spare Bank Robber Joker belt because it was a lot stronger. It looks really bad without the coat, the waist was so big that in order for the pants to shut they have to be bunched up like crazy with all this extra material in the waist.
4) the watch and glass is from James Bond. I'm going to try and find one of the On the Rocks glasses from Dr. No set but I can live with the Martini if need be. He's drinking a refreshing glass of handsoap.
5) The phone is the Nokia that came with the spy 7 set (Daniel Craig) I want to replace it with something more modern and replace the horrible glasses.

I've simply given up on this suit. I look at it this way, I wasted about $100, will count my losses and move on. To be honest something this small has altered my respect for Hot Toys.

It doesn't help that I don't care for 1/6 suits but of all the 1/6 suits i've seen over the past 2 years, this set is the most pathetic. Lousy from head to toe imo.

They really did drop the damn ball on this there's really no excuse for it. Those glasses. I can't get over it, just the stupidest thing I've ever seen! and shoefeet are also dissappointing.

How are you out 100 dollars? That really sucks. Where did you get it from? I got it from Toys2 and it was about 40 shipped.

My suggestion would be to keep the neck, tie and shirt (but you'd have to glue the collar) maybe the shoefeet... and use the black toys2 jacket and pants. It might make his head look small though, the Stark head is just too damn small.

Maybe I am easy to please but I think the suit looks pretty decent to me. If anyone knows where I can get one or if someone wants to sell theirs let me know.

I think ebay is the best be though Im sure others are carrying it. check monkeydepot, and the usual places.

Remember i modded mine a lot, out of the box on a regular truetype it's atrocious.

It' hard to see the detail, but In the one pic I have James Bond Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark. The Bond suit came from Store-Rooms and crappy Dr Figures and it's even a lot better than this one (despite the fact that its supposed to be a suit but its cut exactly like a tux). it was made to fit the BBI body which is a lot different than the truetype but even THAT fit better onto the truetype than this actual Hot Toys product.

I forgot about that glass. I dug it out this morning and it looks great. A bit empty, but great. It is a bit big for the TT hands, but I was eventually able to get it to hold it. I think it really improves the look of the figure.
