Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I think any hope for another 1:6 Who line appearing cannot be written off totally whilst the show is in the midst of the wave of popularity that it is currently in.

But as the most likely company to pick up the license is probably Sideshow I'm quite happy to go without and am more concerned with what's going to follow Classic wave 2.

Obviously there's going to be some figures from the new TV series but beyond the 11th Doctor & Amy Pond I couldn't give a crap about those and want to know if we'll get at least 1 more wave of Classics or failing that some more FPI Exclusives.

I wouldn't mind a classic Who line from Sideshow if only for the costumes, but I don't think Sideshow would ever touch the license, new or classic, as the franchises main popularity is in the UK. Everywhere else Doctor Who is very much a cult thing. I honestly don't think any company outside of the UK would touch the license.

I'd hate to see Sideshow butcher some of the Doctor Who costumes because even their most basic attire can be bloody awful, they either don't fit the base body properly or look cheap & nasty.

The only thing I'd trust them with on a Who line would be making the packaging because I can honestly say that was the only consistently decent element of the 10 or so figures that I owned.

Thankfully you are likely correct in thinking that no company outside the UK would touch the license due to it's limited appeal, Tonner were supposed to be making a couple of their so called figures but they seemed to have dropped off the radar so our eyes are at least safe from those :D

Not sure what you are basing that opinion on. It would seem you have not received anything new from Sideshow within the last year.

The X-Files figures and most of the Star Wars releases up to the ANH Han, Luke & Leia which was when I lost all intrest.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Then you really have missed some of the best products yet.

I've had the occasional look at pics of later figures and I saw no noticeable increase in anything but the price.

Sideshow are the RTD of 1:6 figures, all hype with nothing memorable at the end of it.

It also has to be said my intrest in the 1:6 genre has died as well and aside from meeting some cool people here and on other sites I regret ever getting into it as official products from licences I really like either don't exist ( Classic Doctor Who ), aren't of a high enough quality ( Star Wars OT ), custom items take far too long to be finished or never even shows up and the really good stuff from licenses I have a slight intrest in ( various HT ones ) are too expensive for me to justify the purchase as I usually resell them to pay for something else within a matter of months.

I'm not entirely happy with CO's handling of the Classic Who line so far but their products have almost always delivered in terms of quality and they are released complete so I'm not left with various parts of a figure lying around doing nothing for months while the other components are in limbo.

Well personally, their Henry Jones Sr figure is on par with Hot Toys stuff. All it's missing is the skin texture. So like I said, your opinion, but I believe it's jaded.

I admittedly haven't seen that one as the only Indy figure I was intrested in was Indy. Which sucked.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

This week should be a Doctor Who extravanganza for me as Classic wave 2 should arrive, WilliamShatnersToupee has sent me several BF audios via e-mail which I'm going to transfer to CD and "The Peladon Tales" region 2 DVD set is out on Monday!

I hope some pics of the 11 Doctor set surface soon to finally confirm it officially because all it is right now is a rumor.

Pix,
I'll be ordering your 2 figures over the weekend and will send you a PM to confirm.

I don't collect these little guys, but I gotta try and get my hands on that Master. I like that they gave him the sash of Rassilon.
