There are no 6 inch figures that cost lower then 10 dollars. They'll be 15 max./

Seriously? Shows you how long its been since I collected 6" figs.

Even $9.99 I could see, but at $24 a pop they better come with a ghost, a ton of gear, and a section of the Ecto 1 to build. I know they won't, just sayin'...

If those prices are true, Mattel isn't looking for retail sales...they're just gouging the collectors.

Gouging? Have you seen their He-man line? Do they not hold a $20 value to each piece? I think Mattel is providing an AWESOME service by making their A stuff exclusive online and at the same time delivering an amazing product.

Why would this line even be compared to the garbage you find in a TRU store for example?

exactly, they are aiming at the collectors market and not average retail customers. so with them being only availble frm mattys site, id say that the high price is to be expected, but yeah $24 for a 6" is alot to spend. i pay about £10 at most for necas cult classics so 24$ is slightly more when the exchange rate is done.

same goes for the 12". they need to be really well done and have awsome bases/stands and accessories for mattell to sell agood load of em at that price region.

u def hit what iwas saying voorhees...they are guna be internet exclusives, so are guna be higher in price, its understandable frm a collectors point of view..well i think anyway. im a sucker personaly for things that are "exclusives" to certain stores, or have and "exclusive" paint job etc, so to me id pay the price so i could have them! a fool? maybe i am but again, they aint guna be selling them in toys r us, or even forbidden planet stores. if they were aimed at tru, then i would argue that 24$ was high. they sell 'action figures', not collectors pieces. dnt get me wrong tho they do still sell stuff that are cool. i worked at a tru store here in uk for like 4-5 yrs for damn sake lol.

my opinion.

Well they got the chubby face down good but yeah his body is almost exact to Egon.

It is the same body. Look where the wrinkles are located in the outfit between both. Of course, these are protos and subject to change.

As for the height difference - the picture is taken at an angle. The tops of the collars appear to line up between both figures. I don't think there is much of a height difference, if any.

Thought. if it's 24 for a setr of 4 of the 6 inchers, .... what if it's 100$ for a set of the 1/6th ones? :O

I'd put money on it being $24 individually. As was pointed out, their 6"ish He-Man collectors figures are marketed the same way at $20 each, and come with less accessories.

$80-90 each for the 12" GBs appeals to me based on what we've seen so far. I'm hoping they all get released at the same time though...just have a fear that if the first couple 12" figures don't sell well, then the others may never get made and we wouldn't have the four GBs. :(

I thought the 6" line was for retail (12" online)? I guess I'm wrong. I didn't realize this was all for direct order.

And no, never saw their He-Man line or prices.

persomally i dont think they will have trouble selling!! i think they will sell fast! and if im honest, im kinda worried that i wont be able to get an order through to mattys site to make surei get em!!

any ideas whether mattys take preorders etc like other stores?? and when they guna be out?? sept/oct time??

Dang, I was expecting the prices to be high, but this is ridiculous. I'll have a hard time picking more than a couple of these up unless the final product is really amazing. Particularly the 1/6 scale versions. The headsculpts will have to be Sideshow quality or better for me to seriously consider them.

Another one via Gbfans for you guys. Says hes the project designer
Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello for the first time. I am the project designer working on the Ghostbusters figures. I want to thank everyone for contributing to such a great community. You have all helped me out on my quests for research materials whether you know it or not. I have found a lot of good reference/prop photos on this site that have helped me tremendously.

I just wanted to clear up any confusion regarding the items shown at NY Comicon:

6" figures- These were sculpted by the team known as 'The Four Horsemen.' They have sculpted these figures 2-up meaning they are twice the size and will be reduced down to 6". When you sculpt that big, you can get a lot of detail in there which looks great when reduced down. These painted models are fresh out of the paint booth. I haven't even seen them in person yet. The accuracy on the equipment detail is not going to be perfect. There are some parts that will not show up at that size or cannot be molded without a lot of additional cost. There is sort of a balancing act that needs to be played in order to keep things affordable. We will be doing Peter and Winston, but we are still working on them, so they are not displayed. The unpainted Egon and Slimer are displayed for size reference.

12" figures- These figures were created entirely at Mattel. They are articulated bodies with cloth uniforms and detailed equipment. Again, you hardcore fans will find faults with some of the details, but I tried my best to include as much as I could. The pack has real wires used for the ribbon cable and part of the top section of the pack had to be enlarged slightly to fit the battery that operates the running red LED lights on the cyclotron. The belt holds the MT500(removable), keyper, trap holder, and Sanyo calculator thingy. The ghost trap has a pedal that can be pressed down but it does not activate the trap. The trap features spring loaded doors that pop open when the red light detail on top of the trap is pressed. The cool thing is that the inner trap is removable from the outer trap frame. So if you have a 1:6 scale containment unit in your 1:6 scale firehouse, you can have a place to store all the ghosts you catch.

I hope that clears up some of the questions you may have about the product. I am not allowed to comment on issues such as price, but I will check in periodically to answer as much as I can about the figures. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I will also be stopping by to ask you questions. Mattel is making an effort to make cool stuff for collectors. I appreciate all your comments, good and bad.

Thanks,
Lavatiki

Best thing I pulled out of there is working cyclotron lights, which I gotta say is pretty sweet!

If those prices are true, Mattel isn't looking for retail sales...they're just gouging the collectors.

All the 6 inch mass markets are all over 10 dollars. And all specialty market figures (like NECA McF....ect) are all 12 and up. Its nuts.

Excellent -- working and removable trap containment piece with light AND working cyclotron LED lights!

These just keep getting better and better!

I agree, the value of these figures went up quite a bit :) Looks like I may have to get a set!

...But the 12" figures have quickly become one of my top chases for 2009, whatever the final price.

Yup, me too! Now that we have some sweet ROTLA Indy figures out and on the way, Ghostbusters was what I wanted most next. Awesome, awesome news, and they look like they're pretty sweet so far...at least to customize into greatness.

Now for my next 80's request...in 2010, high quality 25th anniversary Marty and Doc 12" figures from each of the BTTF films please! (1985 attire, 2015 attire, 1955 attire, and 1885 attire! :rock)

After that, boy, I can't think of what else I'd want...now that we have Indy, A L I E N, Aliens, Robocop, Predator, Terminator and Ghostbusters...just MORE of some of those missing line's figs please...and BTTF...ooh, and Blade Runner...and maybe even Buckaroo Banzai! :rock :rock :rock
