Yeah, I think these will be a great start for those of us too lazy/cheap to go the full custom route.

Gotta say I'm surprised by the use of full 1/6 here by Mattel, but the sculpts are waaay too cartoony. We'll see how the final product is, but I'm not about to give up on the Chris Howes sculpts just yet.

C'mon Hot Toys--jump on this! Itsa gold mine!

I bet Bill Murray is being a pain in the ass over his likeness usage.
He's notorious for such things.
But in the end he'll relent cuz he needs the dough to pay his divorce lawyers.....and of course the ex Mrs. Murray.

Just a heads up for anyone whos interested in some news. I'm not too sure if this info was posted or not yet so Ill go ahead and post it anyway. This comes via a post from gbfans, not from me.

hi guys just got back from a full 15 hours at comic con.

got some things you might want to hear from the ghostbusters toy line. I spoke to the toy manager from the mattel booth early in the morning as they were setting up before all the nerds came and i got the skinny on these figures. here is what i was told.

1- no ecto 1

2- no other characters will be made aside from the four GB, NO PECK, NO DANA, ETC ETC

3-depending on the sale of the GB figures which will be released in early November late October, if they SELL, then they will make an ecto and etc other figures.

4- THIS IS A BIGGIE TO ME, the 12 inch figured people posted on this post are not the ones you will see, they are just the raw 12 inch sculpts used for the 6 inch figures, meaning you WILL NEVER HAVE THE OPTION TO BUY THESE. They are on display because they want to show people what the 6 inch figures wil look like when its painted so they have the artists sculpts which i think people confused for the 12 inch one.

5- the actual 12 inch i think is horrible. with the ecto goggles on, you wouldn't be able to tell. but with them OFF, its a whole other person. it looks like someone stuck a mego figure's head on a dragon body. When speaking to the guy at mattel he confirmed that the 12 inch on display was crap but that they just wanted to "show off" what the accessories are and to give people a taste of what to expect. He told me thats why he didnt want nerds taking pics, he then told me that the face is not going to be used. thank god.

6 - i asked if they would ever release a 12 inch version of the 6 inch figures, which the pics are posted of egon and ray, he said no and that they are going with the crap cloth figure.

7- price, 24 for the 6 inch and 80 to 90 for the 12 inch. comes in special packaged box etc etc

8- point of story... buy this crap and a few months later they will be able to put out more gb stuff like stay pufft, the movie ghosts, dana, GB louis, etc etc. He confirmed that they want to do this, but it all depends on how much of their first run sells. Their you have it. I have good GB game info which im going to post in a different post? i dunno yet.. im tired

Interesting information, but it's the usual. Most companies won't commit to too much unless the license take off. I think Mattel is playing it wisely, especially with peoples reluctance to over extend themselves in these tough times.

24 for a 6" -> ridiculuos

80-90 for 12" -> hope they will improve the figure in this cas a little bit. (fix all the tubes, elbowpads, boots, colours etc.) Dont care about the head as I am going with the Howes'head which will be far better (and slimed :rock)

Really? I thought the Mattel pack looks really good. I doubt we'll get that degree of detail and subtle weathering on the final product though.

Still, with these you get the pack, the "gun", the trap with peddle, the little circuitboard thing-a-ma-doo on his belt, goggles, the clear tube, pretty much everything you need gear-wise. Depending on the final price, seems like good one-stop shopping.

I imagine Egon and Peter will come with their own unique items as well (like Ray's goggles).

Dont get me wrong, I will buy these too but I have 10 Nick-a-packs lying here around, so I will maybe sell 5 and keep the other 5... Guess I will switch my GB-costums to GB II and take the Mattel GBs for GB I... But I will not decide until I have the Mattel figures in hand.

Is it just me, or does the guy with the info there seem a little..... dissatisfied?

Anyways, this is something I've allways wanted. the 1/6th ones are a MUST BUY for me. I hope to god they release them 1 at a time. I ned to start setting aside money now. As a Kid I had EVERY ghostbuster toy....And now I get to get "grown up" versions of them. Can't wait.... Please do them justice Mattel... Please do them justice.

So we're sure the 1/6th there is Ray? I couldn't see his name on his jumpsuit.

Yeh hopefully what astro said will becorrect and that wont be the sculpt used! as its wayyyyy off in my opinion. after looking at the pics and reading ppls posts theres afew things that need changing to, def the boots for me, the head (until we see the finals), elbow pads, tubes etc.

and yea i must admit 24$ or so for a 6" seems pretty high. but if they are limited and come in special packaging then they will sell them at a higher price i guess.

im def guna buy em tho. better start saving now.

sorry to ask a umb question tho, but as im in the uk, our seasons are different 2u in thes states, so what months is the fall for you?? i thought it was like september time??

$80-$90 for the 12 inch?!?!? They'll be a Sideshow pricing at that point......unless they knock my socks off I'll be passing.

yeah its a high price, so hopefuly for that we will get an awsome hesdsculpt of the actor, some kick ass accersories and a cool base would be nice aswel. ill prob stil be getting these as gb obssesive ahha but yea for that price when u compaire them to other lines, they NEED to be worth the price tag

$24 for a 6" figure? There's no way. Unless he means for the set of 4.

I think that info from "whomever" is incorrect. Maybe $6.99 tops for 6", and maybe $59.99 tops for 12". Otherwise, I can tell Mattel right now they don't need to worry about developing any other figures. They won't sell at those prices.

Yeah I have to admit the pricing is a bit too high, He-man came out at $20 per so I really think its $24 for each GB.

He is... but bear in mind that hardcore fans are never satisfied...
