I wish I hadn't of seen this thread. I'm really tempted to pick up a 12" Venkman figure for that price. Is Matty.com reliable/safe? Never ordered there before...

Define "safe and reliable" Safe enough IMO, but not totally reliable. If you have customer service issues, forget about it. At the moment, 12" Ray is showing up as being in-stock, but can't be entered into the cart.

Personally, I haven't had real issues with them, but many others (including guys who post a lot in this thread) have. Apparently it is very difficult to get replacements, the guys they work with to do the customer support/shipping (Digital River) are inept, and from time to time orders are canceled due to their website not reflecting actual inventory numbers.

On the bright side, at least you don't have to constantly refresh the screen for 30 minutes until you can get an order in (as is the case when a new He-Man pre-order comes available).

My first 12 inch was Winston (@ $60) and I was totally blown away. Proton pack is amazing. Worth the 40% off price tag. I also have Peter which is great but not as good as Winston. I just ordered Egon passed on Ray as I have seen him in stores and still don't see the actors likeness!! I will wait for the Slime Blower version......if it is released!!!

I just got my Venkman yesterday, and you guys were so right about the stupid box! You practically had to disassemble the entire thing to get the figure out!

I have a few questions:
I turned on the proton pack and the lights go through a few cycles of going around the 4 lights, then turns off by itself. Is that all it's supposed to do? The instruction sheet that tells you how to change the batteries mentions something like, "if the lights are dim and the sound is low then it's time to change the batteries". Is there supposed to be sounds too?

Did he come with a stand and I just haven't found it yet?

How the f- do you put the wand into the gripping hands?!? Is it even possible? The hands are stiff so I can't seem to pry them open enough to fit the wand in. And I also don't want to force it and break the wand.

Sorry if these questions sound dimwitted. I skimmed through the thread but I didn't come across any of my answers.

And yeah, that body is pretty bad, I may have to change it.

Hey man,
1-there are no sounds on the proton pack or in the wand, I don't know why it says that on the instructions, doesnt make sense.

2-Yeah the hands are stiff, i broke the wand trying to make it fit inside the gloves, so my advise is, put the hose in, then put the grip in gradually... other wise it will break.

3-THere is no stand for that figure. Never have never will.

Yeah I ended up using just parts of the outfit and packs for custom figures...
For the price they are going now on Matty it's a steal...
they're really cheap now...

one one hand i like that we can get these figures cheap, on the other, im annoyed i paid full price when they were first released! all this tells me is that i'll wait on future releases until i can get them 40%-60% cheaper!!!

If any of the 12 inchers are still available then (only Egon and Winston are now), then I'll probably pick up multiples just for the proton packs. If/when I ever get around to trying my hand at some customs of these again.

Well I got the ghost trap today and I'll be seeing the last October showing of Ghostbusters at the theatre tonight. I'll miss out on some Spooktacular stuff and I should probably be studying anyway, but Ghostbusters is worth it.
