I live chatted with Elisse at Sideshow an hour and a half ago- I told her about Alex's comments in this forum, and she told me that they "may be receiving [the Spidey statue] small batches at a time" and that they would "keep me posted once they receive further information" in the form of "a notification offering early processing."

I pressed her on if she had any idea if I'd get that notification in January like Alex mentioned was a possibility or some other time frame, and she said that they "are receiving a small shipment, but we are not sure how many pieces will be arriving, so there is a possibility we may not be able to offer early processing once that shipment arrives in our warehouse."

So, basically, it's a total crap shoot if you'll get it a notification in January or any other time asking if you want it early or not.
The CS Rep can't narrow it down any more for you.
Think of how many products and how many customers they have. You can't expect them to say 'yes you're down for January shipment'.

Weird. Well, I'm on flex so I'm just going to keep assuming I'm on the original timeline. Anyone have any thoughts on qc changes over the course of a release if it's put out in batches? I'm curious if "early adopters" might be hit with some issue that gets ironed out later in production. Has that ever happened?

Didn't that happen with the Modern Thor PF EX with the tipping problem? Collectors who wanted it fixed had to send their statues back and were also compensated with RPs as well.

Also, I don't exactly remember her role, but I seem to recall that Alex is more or less a coordinator/supervisor so it makes sense for her to have more precise infos than CS employees. Elisse is great btw, super gentle.

I was just trying to be helpful by sharing what I found out with Sideshow today. No reason for you to get snippy about it.

It's usually pretty random who gets first batch. SSC has stated it depends on how many they get in the first batch and whether they can cover more flex or full payers with that batch. So while there is a method, it really is a crap shoot on our end since we have no idea how many people flex vs full paid in the first few days (assuming the first batch covers approximately that time frame of orders).

I'm surprised this will be releasing so far ahead of schedule. I hope I get one from the first batch, and more importantly, hope it has no QC issues.

the possibility of it leaning will keep me away for now. I've seen too many horror stories recently.

I'm not too worried because I've heard Sideshow specifically address any potential leaning issue several times already. I think the only difference with this piece if that it's been designed with this in mind. Will this be a reality, who knows! ;)

I'm going with this piece because it's simply the best Spiderman statue I've ever seen. I'm prepared to build a clear resin support stem if necessary. ;)

Buying something because you think it MAY lean is not the way to live. That's like not buying a car because it MAY break down someday. I wouldn't let gravity or any other force stop me from buying this if I loved it enough. If I weren't in love with my JSC Spidey this purchase would be a no brainer.
