Personally I feel the price on this Spidey is Justified... It's just that amazing

Price is ridiculous. My suggestion to everyone here is to NOT pre-order! Why does this need to be pre-ordered? It doesn't. They will make thousands of these, they won't sell out anytime soon and you can most likely get a nice discount down the line. Think of all the statues you pre-ordered that later went on sale with double rewards. Sideshow has offered discount on items as soon as they become available... a big slap on the face of people who pre-order (it has happened to me). Not to mention, you get too see what it looks like in hand first.

Besides, if you like Symbiont Spidey better, there is a 99% chance they will make a variant.

The problem is there are, what, a few hundred collectors on these forums? The percentage of collectors that read and post on these forums is a small margin of those who buy from Sideshow. Even if every person here didn't PO, it'd still be fairly minor...would they notice? Maybe, but they're full steam ahead right now.

It's been said over and over in different ways, but in the end all that'll happen now is a drop in the amount of statues people order. Not everyone will change, but at least a good portion of those on the forum seem to be headed that way, and I'm sure Facebook and Twitter will prove the same once the price is revealed to social media come Thursday.

Gone are the days of "Cool statue, I'll get it just because!" We now live in a time where many will say, "Okay, I definitely want Aquaman, so I guess I'll wait for him to come out and that'll be that!" Most people will become incredibly selective, and because of that, there'll definitely be excess stock in other areas, which will very likely lead to prices dropping and sales happening on higher edition sized statues. Maybe they'll sell then!

There are just thousands and thousands of collectors, and I'd say these prices will now make a good portion more selective before making orders...but there's no way that there'll be some joint effort to boycott Pre-ordering Spider-Man in order to stick it to the man...until two months later when we can all use coupons.

I just google sideshow Spider-Man premium format and nothing with ex head? What do one have to do to just see a pic of the ex head? SS site have none pics either? Where are you all finding the pics?

For me that ratio is no longer there. For the last 3 years that I have been into statues I have been averaging 16 statues per year as I have just over 50 now. This hobby at the rate I was buying and the way the prices are now is pretty much a monthly Corvette payment. I have 5 more PF's on order, I haven't ordered one since batgirl (which I regret). After these I have room for 5 more PF's and they will be saved for the right Spiderman and Batman villains. I was going to get this statue but I will just live with the last comm.

I personally don't see the value anymore.

You can still enjoy it... Just be a little more picky... 16 statues a year??? Jeepers.

In all seriousness. I hate these prices.. Just happy to know I am a Spidey, Iron Man, and Jason Voorhees away from being done. Sure I will probably snatch the occasional Hulk statue they put up but I just wont continue buying statues at these prices. Not with the ES as high as they are which makes it very difficult to make my money back if I want to sell one and get another. I have never had an issue with QC and have been happy overall with SSC. But these prices do decrease the level of enjoyment I get out of them. Now when a new statue comes I think "Did I really pay that much for this?"

I'm passing on this. I'm not a fan of the large bad looking explosion around the entire bottom of the base and I'm even less a fan of the price. With no tailoring I felt it shouldn't be more than $400, though I figured it probably would be. I wasn't sure if I was going to be willing to buy it at $450, so I'm definitely out at $470. I have $86 worth of rewards points I could put toward it and I'm still not doing it. It's just not worth it.

I'll wait for in hand pics of the modern Thor PF and use my points on that if I like it. Otherwise I'll probably be stuck with my points because I can't see myself buying anymore Sideshow stuff at these crazy prices.

I don't know how he even made an account for this site since he apparently can't even browse Sideshow's website. If it is a trick, then it's the ultimate troll! If not...

I managed to apply all my remaining points to an existing order. Same as you, I can't see myself ordering anything released for p.o this year, not from SS anyway.
I was waiting on this & Black Cat but both, for me, aren't worth the price asked.

Igo who is one of the High muckety mucks at SSC has basically stated that he was doing a LOT of research into the black/symbiote costume. So it is a VERY strong hint.

I am pretty sure that he is trying to avoid all of the backlash they got with the RedSon line and Modern Batman.

Yeah, this is what I was going to say. A lot of people were like, "If they'd told me there'd be a Classic Catwoman, I would've waited! If they said Modern Age Batman was coming, I'd have waited!" I don't think it'd hurt sales...it'd effect the edition size more than anything. And help ease the backlash. This way people can choose one or the other, or both, and make plans from there.

I do wonder if they'll alter the base for the Symbiote Spidey though, as a pumpkin bombed bridge wouldn't really fit into that tale.

Wonder how different the base will be. Black suit doesn't scream goblin bombs or explosion to me.

I believe Igo confirmed the variant will be Spider-Man in black but he didn't specify whether it's the Symbiote or the Black Cloth Costume.

The difference? The symbiote, being alive and all, shoots organic webs from the back of the hands or back of the wrist. The Black Cloth costume uses traditional web shooters.

We don't know which one it'll be yet. If the hand remains detachable on the Ex, we could get hands to represent both, who knows.

But knowing SS it'll be one version and they'll call it the other (ie, they'll make black costume but call it Symbiote, or visa versa...) much like their "Modern" Batman is the old school costume that's actually older than their non-modern Batman.

I'd like more if the Black costume or Symbiote got their own original, all new statue instead of relegated to default variant status with virtually everything by any company, but variants are the easier way out.
