I didn't see anything arrogant about that. They've been heavy underdogs to lose to them the last 2 times they've met, but they won both times. For any team, it's huge to beat them. They even said, and Coughlin reiterated, that they're a "hell of a team". He even sain before praying to be humble in victory. Just a good win for a team trying to get back to what they were a few short seasons ago, that's all.

I can definitely see Harbaugh trying to get his team motivated by using that kind of language. It is true that they got the bye but are picked to lose by Vegas, so there's something to back up that claim anyway.

I thought it was funny earlier in the week when there was some rumor that Payton was trying to hurt Smith in the pre-season by blitzing the hell out of him because Harbaugh didn't answer Payton's phone calls before then :lol But hey--whatever works to motivate your team :D

I definitely respect Jim Harbaugh for what he's done with them in only 1 season.

Some of the reasoning and accusations teams/the press come up with is beyond ridiculous. The Saints have blitzed the hell out of everyone since Williams took over at DC. The guy is relentless and does not abandon it.

And there's good reason for that--the Saints D is OK at stopping the run, but that's about it. This year they've been better than they have in the past at giving up big plays, but teams can move down the field against the Saints with relative ease. Blitzing constantly is one thing even lesser defenders can do that can potentially throw another QB off his game. It worked better in 09 b/c that blitz created some pressure that led to turnovers. This year (and last year) those blitzes don't seem quite as effective.

But with Brees playing out of his mind, yet again, they just have to keep the score manageable. But I definitely think they need the presence of an elite pass-rusher on that team. The ones they have are decent, but they lack one that can almost take games over (in a sorts) like a Jared Allen, Demarcus Ware, Terrell Suggs, LaMarr Woodley or someone along those lines.

C'mon, even if they'd won Sunday they were far too banged up to make a serious run.

Go Brees! But as long as the Ravens and Packers aren't the SB roster, I'm good.

I felt this way before the Pit,Den game. Don't even bother with the points. If you think Denver will hang close might as well place the bet to win. They are either going to get blown out or they'll win.

Can you tell me whats the payout for a bet to win? Work won't let me look at betting sites. :lol

Brady doesnt have a good postseason record these years so I wouldnt be shocked to see them lose to Denver but i dont think it will be evitable that they would beat Baltimore if they go against them. ratings would be bad if its Baltimore vs Saints Superbowl.

Ugh. Hate the ratings discussion. Who gives a rats ass what teams will get better the ratings? When you start worrying about that crap might as well start rigging the entire league.

Do the teams really effect the SB rating? I would say a very large % are watching since its a party and want to see the commercials. I remember a few years ago I went to my buddies parents(both buddy's and Dad are huge FB fans) and we got in trouble for talking during the commercials.

It does go up and down. Trust me, if Tebow makes it to the Super Bowl it will be the biggest rating the game has ever seen. Maybe the most seen anything ever on TV. But who cares, the NFL certainly shouldn't worry about it.

That's what I think. For the most part, it won't matter who's in the game. However, 2 low scoring defenses going at it (say, a Baltimore and San Fran) might yield slightly lower ratings than any other combination just because some (i.e., the the Josh's of the world ;) ) who are on the fence will consider it too boring. But yeah, Tebow in the Superbowl is gonna bring in 50 million evangelical Christians to watch, but that's a weird case. I think the NBA is much more strongly affected by the teams playing because folks more folks watch to see specific players vs. watching just to see a good sports matchup.

That would be interesting, I doubt it would get any near worldwide records but it COULD break some US records.

Well all the other finals are multi game so it's not the same. The closest comparison would be a game seven but still not the same as game seven could be a Tuesday night not a Sunday you have know about for a long time.

Well I'm talking relative interest. Of course, more folks are gonna watch an NFL game than an NBA game because there are fewer of them (and, the NFL is more popular). But if you get Spurs/Pacers series in the finals somehow, you're gonna get much less viewership than if you get Lakers/Heat. I think the dropoff would be much less severe if you go from Packers/Patriots to, say, Texans/Ravens.
