Apparently Kevin Dineen is going to be named coach of the Panthers. I'm sad to see him leave Portland, but he is really deserving and it was just a matter of time before an NHL team took him.

Great to hear the Jets are back, they need to keep the name IMO

We dont need a mighty ducks part 2

So on Facebook you've been crying about this and saying you dont want it, but here you're happy......which is it?

I am happy for what it will do for Winnipeg Jason, but not happy for the idea it may separate me and my dad from being season ticket holders. It's basically being stuck between two worlds.

You have to understand why I am stuck between both...

Or you can do what everyone else does and say STFU. :dunno

I think the other option was to call the Moose name up to the NHL, since they had done a great job of building that team's brand.

But the issue was that the NHL owns the rights to the Jets name, but Bettman said they were free to use the name, logo, etc.

One possible upside is that you'd have to assume they're going to do everything possible to make sure every game the first season is a sellout, or damn close to one. So they could have some very enticing ticket offers.

i think it's funny that they wanna put all these teams up in Canada cuz of the fans. but the players never really wanna play up there. isn't that what hurt Quebec? nobody wanted to sign to a team in a place where everybody speaks French.

I think it was more the exchange rate at the time rather than attracting free agents. If QC comes back I doubt they have the trouble that Montreal has getting people to come with the media there not being quite as crazy as they are in Habs town.

Another Franco team would probably also mean more opportunites to Franco players. Former player Bob Sirois wrote a pretty interesting book about the discrimination of French players in the NHL a few years back.

Lame, a French player writing a book about discrimination towards French players... whatever. Apparently the French are always being discriminated. :rolleyes2
