I am not a huge MAF supporter. I am just playing the position of "the opposition", who thinks he takes on far too much flack than he deserves. These playoffs are more deserving of the negative intention he gets from you boardies. It's when he plays balls out hockey, you still rip on the guy like nobody's business. Don't confuse defending the guy, as being a big supporter. I will say I am a fan. I like his demeanor. Seems like a nice laid back guy. I hear fans always enjoy the experience of meeting up with him at say a Mall, and getting autographs from him. These are not autograph sessions either. This is him out in Pittsburgh shopping with his lady friend. He just comes off like a real nice person. Does that make him a great goalie? No. Is he consistent? By no means, no. It is frustrating. I also know he's 27, and still has time to stretch out his legs. I also know he was taken 1st overall in the deepest draft in NHL history (2003), granted 1979 is right up there as well. He was taken over guys like your Eric Staals and Ryan Getzlafs because of his great athletic abilities. He has fast reaction timing, and a good glove hand. I think we have yet to see the best in him. You say Bobby Lou gets a bad rep. Well does he. I like the fact we still win games with him in net, and we have been to the show twice, and won a Stanley Cup in that very important Game 7 which I'll remind you, he, along with that traitor Maxim Talbot were the stars of.
Powerplays from irrelevant stupid penalties, a bunch of odd man rushes due to our Pens players like your Orpik variety, trying to make the huge hits, that take them right out of the play, and cause them to lose their positioning, to help out our goalie, and guys simply not completing assignments, are all factors as to why we're losing this series. The entire blame can not be on Fleury. It's just been that kind of series, were the goalies have not been good. It's been all about the shooters.
Oh btw, I fixed the post to arm chair GMs. haha. Knew arm seat didn't sound right. Ha!
