Chicago Tribune leaks news of new GM in Montreal - Marc Bergevin.
However, I was hoping for Pierre McGuire. I was really curious to see what he could do.

How much experience does this fellow have in management?
One year as an assistant GM? The rest was more in supportive roles, e.g. scouting.

I don't want to dump on this hiring. However, I'd love to know why he was chosen over McGuire.
This better not be because of language...

I'd agree on burying him the AHL. I'm stunned that they're doing this the way they are. How on earth is this seen as a good idea in a huge market like that? They are basically printing money up there, and they're trying to save $3 million, but by doing so are ensuring Gomez counts against the cap for the next 4 years? I'd be furious right now if the Bruins had done this.

I think they're going to bury him in the minors.
I think the Habs brass would get so much flack for jeopardizing their furture.

The Canadiens would not buy him out. It would cost them dearly. It has not happened, so why are we even going there?

He should be sent down to their AHL team's farm team affliliate. He seems to do well in the ECHL.
