I have known for years that Alyssa Milano was a season ticket holder with the Kings and a long-time hockey fan. I never knew she was a season ticket holder since Luc Robitaille's rookie season. That was 1986-87!

Tim Robbins and Susan Surandon would go to the Rangers games for years. Now it's just Robbins. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn went to the LA Kings games for years. Heck, that's why he was adamant to portray Herb Brooks in the film Miracle in 2004. Big-time hockey fan. A lot of these celebs are the real deal. Also, who gives a ____? Oh yeah, you guys.

Surprised? In my city, people don't give a ____ about the Blue Bombers unless they are winning. Bandwagon fans come in all shapes, sizes, ages, low and high income, famous or not. Why should the celeb world be any different? In the end they are just people like you and I.

Ahem....

Again, still good for the sport and the league. Anything can be used as leverage.... celebs sell to the masses. That's why they are the popular choice for product placement. This is free advertising! ____ the whole point they are bandwagoning it or not... just making a point. A valid one.

LA will always have bandwagon fans in every sport. I grew up out there. Prime example, I was the only Angels fan in town growing up; everyone was dodger fans. Now, seems as though everyone I know from back home is an angels fan since they won the world series. Don't get me started on the Clippers...
Billy Crystal is the only Clippers fan who can actually say he's had season tickets since the 80s.

Well from the celebs I saw they aren't going to do much. You need stupid people like the jersey shore idiots, the kardashians ect... for the masses to notice, not Milano and Will Ferrell.

And yeah bandwagon and LA fan are fairly interchangeable. One of the reasons I fear getting one of the bad NFL teams transferred to LA

I think this is the very reason no team will ever move to LA again. Only team I can see is maybe SD.

There will be there is way to much money being thrown around for stadiums , they will make sure it happens. I just expect them to be gone 10-15 years later.

Who? The Kings? Yeah, that won't happen. They have done alright for 45 years, but you predict they'll be gone in 10-15? Suuure.

I think he's referencing more to the fact LA is trying to get an NFL team again. They used to have 2, one even won a Super Bowl while there, but an NFL team going back to LA is a bad move for the fans.

Yeah, but the Kings have a loyal fan base and have survived for 45 years strong.

It's weird that the second largest city in the US doesn't have an NFL team, despite that fact.

Adam Carolla says that the reason LA has no NFL team and doesn't need one because most people who live in LA are from everywhere but LA. All wannabe actors from all over the US. Their loyalty is with the team they grew up with.

That does make sense. But I find it hard to believe that of the 8-9 million, that the majority are actors. lol

I would say it's a minority and a VAST minority at that.

I don't agree with the number of people that are actors but as for the not from SoCal that's 100% correct. But then my family has been in SoCal since late 1800s.

The key word is survived. The lakers are a huge reason they have survived. By sharing a facility with one of the biggest franchises of the nba they have reaped huge benefits. They don't sell out all the time and when they do you can expect to see a lot of vistor jerseys. They are actually helped by the fact there are so many transplants, so when those teams come through those teams fans show up in numbers. There is a reason that prior to having a salary cap they have not been relevant since they had Gretzky and really haven't been all that relevant until a couple weeks ago.

And is this exact reason the Kings had to put this up recently. So so unfortunate that people could be this stupid. View attachment 47760

It's not an abysmal choice. He can coach. Whatever the case, the reality is that if you want to work in Quebec, at least for the time being, speaking French is a must. People seem to forget that Quebec is 90% French. Not only that, there are so many laws in place which prohibit the teaching/learning and exposure to English, it makes complete sense as to why Quebecers demand a French coach.

I recommend you guys see the film The Rocket - The Maurice Richard story. It's a great little bit of history of Hockey in Quebec. I thnk you guys would really like the film.

Really? Now I'm curious, any suggestions on online reading on this topic?

This morning, French Quebec work up to the front page headline of the Journal de Montreal (daily newspaper) which read "Bye Bye Randy". Living in Quebec, we knew exactly what that meant: Get out you Anglophone bum. We don't want any of you". The xenophobic racism is so in your face, what continues to be amazing to me is how the rest of Canada allows it to continue.

The radio stations (the English ones anyway -- as the French ones couldn't give a crap what anglos think or feel) have been buzzing about this latest shot against them. So we ask, who the hell would want to come play or work for Montreal when they have to face this kind of adversity on a daily basis.

Sure, there are the occasional francophones who might call in and say that they find the headline to be inappropriate. However, it stops there. However, if god forbid they see an English sign in front of a store m(like "open"), which is illegal by the way, the language police would be called immediately and the store owner would be notified that he can't have an English sign anywhere in sight. They would then threaten him with a huge fine if he gets caught again having anything written in English within sight outside his store.

Here is the cover of the French newspaper when the Habs hired Cunnyworth as head coach. There was such an uproar, you'd think they hired a war criminal. There were daily surveys asking people if hiring Cunnyworth, a unilingual anglophone coach, meant war againt the French culture. Over 70% said yes. They campaigned on just about every TV and radio station expressing how unnacceptable it was to hire an anglo coach. The fact that all the players speak english and almost none of them speak french doesn't at all matter to them. The GM and owner of the Habs had to make a public apology for hiring an english person as apparently that was percieved as a tragic and incredibly insulting and disrespectful thing to do. Oh, the irony.

When players come to Montreal, one of the first things the the reporters want to know is when the players will go to school to speak french.
