Who are you looking forward to your team drafting?

They're picking 29th so I have no idea who'll be left. I've heard Lou wants a forward because Parise's future is uncertain. We got Larsson out of it last year so I imagine it will be a forward but who? I have no idea.

Just heard the Devils will host the 2013 draft at the Prudential Center.

Rumor has it Brian Burke is traveling to Jerusalem and won't be there tonight.
He's doing everything he can to draft Jesus. Even if he can he is expecting a harsh dose of criticism from the T.O. media because they already know even J.C. can't save them.

He'll probably pull a Lindros and injure his foot and then sit out the rest of the season while raking in an obscene amount :lol

The 3 picks were skewed. It was 3 picks for Bob, but one of them was like 147th.

Anyway, Ribeiro to Washington for Cody Eakin and a 2nd round pick. Great for Washington, but bad for Dallas, since it makes them very weak down the middle. Potential other deal in place for a C?

Lubomir Visnovsky goes to NYI for a 2013 2nd round pick.

Please Winnipeg, do something good with that 9th overall pick. Don't do the roots route.

Jamie Grace Mikhail Grigorenko or Matt Dumba fall to the Jets?

Seriously? Lindholm at No. 6? Jets may have a few great prospects that fall to them! Woohoo! That was crazy... Anaheim selects a kid who was rated 15-20... and goes 5th overall.
Jamie Grace Wished we would get Forsberg, but he won't drop to No. 9.

Wow both the Pens and Jets passed up on Forsberg.

Loved the return in the Staal trade. LOVE LOVE Dumoulin. To me he is the key component. Not Sutter. You guys have no idea how good Dumoulin is. I been coveting that kid for years since I signed him in my keeper league years ago.

Don't care too much for the kid they drafted. They say he's a Morrow clone, so I'll go with that. He was Morrow's partner on D. So who knows... Pens are really stacked on D now. And they have money and room to work with (IF THEY CAN GET PARISE)...

Great kid. My little cousin played with him on the local HS team that won a state title a few years back. Obviously Brian's hockey career has gone much further.:lol

Props to Shero on this deal.

The Devils should have relinquish the 29th pick back to the NHL (kovalchuk signing). I am surprise they are keeping this pick? Makes no sense to keep it.:dunno

I agree 100%. They have to forfeit a pick anyway because of the Kovy deal. Why not a 29th pick? Idk what Lou's thinking. He's usually right though.

And they take Matteu's son... that name... ugh. Pain.

His father (a Ranger) scored the OT goal in the Eastern conference finals in 1994 that eliminated the Devils. Marty Brodeur would still hear Matteau chants sometimes at the Garden.

Washington did the best in this draft.

My Jets and Pens passed up on ____ing Filip Forsberg and Mikhail Grigorenko.

Idiots..

So the Caps got Mike Ribeiro a youngish skilled top six centerman on the cheap. Filip Forsberg the safest pick in the draft, not to mention the second best skilled forward and skater outside of Nail Yakupov (Ranked No. 1 for European skaters) and tough man (Milan Lucic clone), Tom Wilson, who lit it up for his team in the playoffs when injuries to their top stars took place.

Yup, this is a great day for George McPhee and company.

The only good thing I can take from this draft day is the great return the Penguins got for Jordan Staal.

Both team did well on the Jordan trade. I think Jordan will blossom playing with his brother. He is at his prime now & his point total will be significantly better. Just imagine if Carolina can get Marc Staal next?

Sigh

I hope the Pens moves pan out, I know we needed to stack up on D and we did that, but I hate seeing Staal go. If that frees up space on the cap for Parise Ill feel better, if not and stat quo, you know who im pointing the finger at, if this season goes to ____.

Told ya Staal was going, and to where he actually wanted to.

Good for him. Sucks for me as a Pens fan, but good for Jordan.

Ray Shero even said, this gives Jordan Staal an expanded role. He's going to be 24 soon, and there is only so much a player can take playing in a limited role. It stunts growth and development, and makes it hard to negotiate for a fat pay day. He's an elite scorer, as he has shown when injuries happened to Crosby and/or Malkin in 10/11, and then was our best player in the playoffs (6-6-3-9) this past spring against Philadelphia. He was taken 2nd overall to not be a grinder/energy grunt player like a Matt Cooke. He's a first line quality player. In Carolina he'll thrive with his brother, creating awesome chemistry enjoying years befitting of a player his stature. He just went from a 50 point third liner to a potential 75-85 point 1st liner over night. Bank on it, he'll be damn near a point-per-game next season.

So it's a great trade for both sides. Sprig, you'll love Brian Dumoulin. I believe he'll be as every bit as good as Kris Letang. Brandon Sutter gives us an appropriate third line centerman, who is strong on face offs. Owns a solid two-way game. Don't know much about the guy we drafted, but if the kid pans out, we burned Jim Rutherford on this deal. I just wished we took Filip Forsberg instead. I am not convinced we'll get Zach Parise. If we do, great! Then this really works in our favour! But if not, we just traded away a 1st line quality player. A young one. And as the Montreal GM said, those just don't come along everyday.

I just like Staal though. All around good player and great guy. In all, I'm really looking forward to the season starting back up later this year. Need to get the bad taste out of my mouth from that 1st round loss to the Flyers.

Tough year for my Pittsburgh teams. The Steelers with their 1st round play-off loss to the Broncos, and the Pen's losing in the 1st as well.

I can't complain too much, though. I did watch both of them recently bring a title home in the same year. :yess:
