If the Pens somehow land Suter and Parise then just hand them the cup now.

They don't have the cap room for both, unless one or both take a huge discount to win a Cup with us. I don't see that happen. Jeremy Roenick says there is only one really solid time for players in landing that big contract... UFA time. You're a stud and it's UFA. You have more room to negotiate and lock in a padded insurance for life as a UFA vs. RFA status. Most players and their agents tend to go to the highest bidder and/or the most attractive market option to play in. The Pens maybe attractive, but they need they cap room to work with. They also need to leave money open to resign Malkin, and hope he takes on a Crosby term.

Olli Jokinen a Winnipeg Jet....

2 years for $9 million USD. Not sure what to make of this signing. :dunno

So,Pony is on his way from NJ to Winnipeg to reunite with Antropov, i think the Jets will do better next year if they secure Ondrej Pavelec.

Ahh and that makes more sense with Monster heading out to Detroit, good on him.

Yeah, keep up. We secured Pav long ago! Monster was just a scare tactic, since Pav was using the whole KHL threat.

And we'll see how Poni does with Antropov. Ant was terrible for us after game 7. Haha... he's a 6'6" 235 lb pylon! And Poni is a hit or miss character. A hit with Toronto and New Jersey. A miss with Pittsburgh and Los Angeles. Hopefully we get the hit variety. He's only signed for 1 year at 1.8 million. Not bad considering how well he did for New Jersey in the playoffs. We have Antro one more year, so the contract makes sense. If they get the old flame of theirs relighted, and depending how successful they are, I can see both being extended to 1 year contracts. If they fail.... no biggy. We'll be done with them. It's a cheap effective way to add some scoring depth to the team, and hopefully light a fire under Antro's ass!

My goodness is that hilarious! Oh, and is he one ugly SOB! But boy can he play! I have thought about it some more, and if he can get 60+ points centering one of our two top lines, I am okay with this signing. Much rather have the former 39 goal, 91 point Jokinen of yesteryear, but that is just a hoop dream. Maybe he can do a 2000-01 Ray Ferraro-isque season.. follow up a bunch of decent years with a huge comeback year! My grandmother always said, if you're going to dream, dream BIG!

Oh i've been keeping it up and thats why i've been missing all the news lately but, as soon as we get Nash(and hell Raps might get Steve Nash, not that i care much for NBA) i'll be back blowing my load all over this thread with my excitement and false hopes of watching the Leafs make the playoffs next season. XD

Nash or Parise..make it happen Burke!.

Both Suter & Parise gets $98 million dollars for 13 years? Wow.... Over freakin paid by Minnesota.

I guess it will be colorado & minnesota battling out the NW division title. The Canucks & Flames are in trouble.

Read they each got $25 mill is signing bonuses too. 10 mill this year and next then 5 mill in 2014.

As a Devil fan I really think they way overpaid for Parise. He is no where near that kind of lengthy contract or money Imo.

All big UFAs are overpaid... so lets stop using that tag, like we're surprised or disappointed. It's not a coincidence that every UFA contract is like this. It's just part of the game. Great for the players. Sucky for the teams, but if a team wants to win badly enough and thinks that UFA can make that team much better, they'll pony up the dough.

Bingo
With a smaller pool this year talent wise, thinnk alot of guys hit teh jack pot. Dont think any of these July 1st deals make any team that much stronger, Minn only as they added two talents, but the rest???
