what's everyone's thoughts on the proposed realignment

4 Conferences.

Rangers, Isles, Devils, Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Hurricanes.

Leafs, Habs, Sens, Sabres, Bruins, Panthers, Lightning.

Kings, ducks, sharks, canucks, flames, oilers, avs, coyotes

wings, hawks, blues, wild, jets, jackets, stars, predators.

Also want to do away with East and West. 4 teams per conference to the play-offs, the 4 teams to get out of their conference get seeded 1-4 so 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3 and the winners for the Cup. could get a Rangers-Bruins final, for example.

apparently the West and East will both have an 8 team "conference" if Phoenix can't get a buyer next season

Don't like it. Only 4 teams in the Playoffs?? Screw that. It's gonna be like baseball where the same 4 teams are in the playoffs year after year after year. At least with 8 teams you can get that sleeper team to sneak in at the last minute. Makes it more exciting IMO. Plus with only 4 teams in the playoffs, the Leafs will never get in. Leafs fans will be outraged.

NHL should also learn from the success of moving Atlanta to Winnipeg and move more failing NHL teams up to Canada. Hockey in Phoenix? Come on

Gustavsson has been excellent lately, there is no question that he is our main guy now

How bout the the fact that Tampa and Florida now play in a tougher division with more travel. The "Northeast" teams now have to travel to Florida to play in their division. If anyone should complain about travel it should be those teams (aka shut up Detroit).

I like it. I'm not sure what's so bad about the setup.

If anything it's going to make things like they were before.

I like the idea of realigning but I think it could have been done better. I know I am going to get flamed for this but I think some it was the NHL wanting to put two of its "poster boys" in a conference against each other to showcase them better.
