I love the Flower, Sid the Kid, Geno, Neal the Real Deal, and Tanger. Everyone else is expendable to me. Those right there are the core. I would say GTFO to Shero if he ever moved one of them. Having said that, Marc-Andre Fleury stunk it up big-time! I'll gladly admit to that being a ____astic game on his part, but he still came out with an NHL assist and win from it. In his defence, Ondrej Pavelec was far worse. I am not a fan of Ondrej. I want the Winnipeg Jets to trade for Eddie Lack, or heck, even Cory Schneider. I like Lack because he has no glaring faults to his game. A big-bodied man who fills out the net, has great East-to-West coverage. Great at reading shooters, playing the angels well, and can even play the puck. He's the best goalie not in the NHL! Make it happen Chevy! Back to the Pens/Jets game, it was definitely not a goaltender's game. I don't know what it is about my Jets and when they play Pennsylvania teams in their home turf, but there always seems to be a free wheeling 80's style showdown between the two rosters.
How about Geno?! 43 points in his past 27 games since Crosby went down again. Guy is carrying that team on his back right now. His puck protection is almost as sick as No. 87's during that span. He's winning tons of battles along the boards and corners. He seems so possessed out there. Looks like my all-time favorite at times, Mario Lemieux on how he uses his big body to glide into the play, and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He anticipates and adapts to the play as it unfolds, just like Le Magnifique. Their subtle approach to the game, while not as flashy as a Pavel Bure-type, gets things done. You can see they are like a great white shark, ready to swim in and make the attack. A thing of beauty!
