And free agency which is always fun

Absolutely. I'm interested to see how Chiarelli maneuvers this off-season being so tight with the cap.

The Habs gave me laugh today giving Michel Therrien a 4 year extension. Why not, I guess? It's only Geoff Molson's money and when they fire Michel after 2 years and he can collect from the Habs while probably being a panelist on RDS.:lol

I want the Winnipeg Jets to trade Dustin Byfuglien, while the getting is good. He's being paid too much as a forward. A forward that gets penalties called against him, undeservingly at times for the way he plays. Which means despite the way he plays, he gets phantom PIMs added on top of the countless useless penalties he creates intentionally and thus, it is deserving. Still, it's a liability in its own right. It was like when Matt Cooke would get called for a penalty, despite hitting a player cleanly, and having cleaned up his game. I know, he's been back to his dirty ways again, but there was a time he was trying to play the good boy scout. Anyway, back to Big Buff, defensively he's a liability, which is why Claude Noel switched him to forward and why Paul Maurice has kept him at that position, because he's useless on D. Having said that, he's being paid handsomely as a top 4 defenseman.

Another thing on my wish list; a compliance buy out for Ondrej Pavelec. Worst. NHL Starter. Ever! Free up some cap room and with guys like Michael Hutchinson, Eric Comrie, and the best for last... Connor Hellebuyck... there is no need for him. The future is looking solid for the Jets between the pipes. We'll continue to miss the playoffs with Pavs as our starter. As a season ticket holder, it would be nice to see this team make the appropriate moves to get us there. That and I don't recall ever going to a NHL playoffs game in person. Would be nice, sooner rather than later. The novelty of being content that we have an NHL team in our city again has worn off. We want a post season birth and our franchises first ever playoff win. Yeah, we're the only NHL franchise yet to win a single "bleeping" playoff game. Is that too much to ask for? lol

I'm confused. Are you a Jets fan or a Penguins fan?

I guess I'll have to go through this song and dance again. Thanks DeezNutz for chiming in bro. Yes, I am both. I was always a Pittsburgh Penguins fan as far back as John Cullen being a Pen. I wasn't a huge Jets version 1.0 fan, but I always had a soft spot for them being the local team. I always was a fan of True North (the Chipman and Thompson group), and the Manitoba Moose. Loved the Moose. So much so, they were a close rival for my favourite team with the Penguins. So when it was made clear we were getting a new NHL team thanks to True North, as a season ticket holder and a fan of that group, I pretty much was an instant fan. Hard not to be a fan of a local club when you see them regularly as a season ticket holder. At the same time, it's hard to deny your love of an NHL team that you have followed for 25 years, and 16 of those years coming from not having an NHL team in your city, so you had to pick someone to root for. It's not so out of the norm to have more than one team.

In the end if I had to choose, I would be torn. I couldn't even tell you who I would root for. It's that close.

Dislike: Trading James Neal for the package we got. We might do well in the end, but at the present time we could have gotten more value for him.

Like: Pens drafting Kasperi Kapanen at No. 22. Sonic speed like his dad and good hands. Could be a great pick for us.

LOVE: Nikolaj Ehlers falling to the Winnipeg Jets. Best Dane to ever come out of a NHL Draft, and one that comes with immense upside. Along with Nicolas Petan, he is currently the Jet with the best upside in their prospect pool and probably even on their active NHL roster.

I'm still on the fence with this one, like you think we could have gotten more offence in return. Neal is cap friendly fir what he produces, which is a point a game guy. Don't like Rutherford at all, think he is going to **** up this team.

5/20 for Benoit Pouliot.:rotfl Oh, Oilers. Perhaps MacTavish should have played with a helmet.

I'm shocked that Josh Gorges turned down the Lafs, but will go to Buffalo.

Washington had a bad day.

How so? Did they overpay? Yes, but their defense is much better than it was yesterday. Any defense that had Carrick, Schmidt, Erskine, Strachen (sp ) and several other scrub or not NHL ready defenseman playing regular mins HAD no option, but to do something and they did. They didn't have a bad day at all.

For $27.5m/5. For a weak FA class, some of these prices have been insane.

I was laughing so hard at some of these especially pouliot, the bolland signing was ridiculous also

And as much as I wanted to keep orpik and niskanen, caps way overpaid for lengthy contracts

Those contracts are horrible. Their lines are temporarily improved, but at the expense of long term cap hits.

Agreed. I don't love the contract but the Caps needed solid D-men and they got that. Now to move Green and get something quality in return and I'll be happy.
