Not to come into anything here, just giving my opinion.

I played hockey as a kid, and follow the NHL and the AHL closely. Ovechkin did what any hockey player should do rather than take a leg injury. He didn't take a dive like everybody is exaggerating. They teach you to do this when you play hockey. He took a hard trip, one that if he took with full force, could have risked a torn a ligament/cartilage. All he did was try and take force off of it. This is not taking a dive.

And for NFL/College football fans here, I also played football through high school, so no, i'm not being partial.

So are you admitting that BOTH can happen on the same play yet? If you feel he dove then fine BM, but he was also tripped on the play. Like I said a ref has the right to call BOTH on the same play if he feels the player took a dive on top of the trip. I will even say ok, he dove to make you happy, but he WAS tripped prior to the "triple axel" and that's a call that should have been made.

Oh contact was made. I wouldn't have minded the call at all if it weren't for what I perceived to be theatrics. Thats all I'm saying. :duff

Si ce comment est dirigé vers moi j'ai peur que vous deviez diriger ce doigt quelque part autrement-- J'ai été un ventilateur vocal pour les Habs depuis les jours de Gainey, Robinson, Dryden, LaFleur, etc….

I just haven't been posting in this thread before as my posts across the board have dwindled significantly due to a new forthcoming addition to the family-- but I'll be happy to find the time to post during the Eastern Conference final when the Habs send my good Maritime boy Crosby home to Canada's Playground to enjoy many of Canada's pemier golf courses.:D Malkin can come too-- someone needs to carry the bags.

Did I hear a wribbit?

In any case, congratulations on the new addition to the family! Happy for you bro! Families are the best thing out there and should be cherished.

And I was referring more to over the past year and a half I been posting here. hehe

btw We'll see who's team makes it deeper into the playoffs. The Bruins aren't that much better than Ottawa, if they are better at all. Don't underestimate the talent in the Burgh! I haven't with Montreal.. see past posts. :)

on monday night, forsberg from colorado, who has been known to embellish every once in a while actually got tackled by a wild player. while the minnesota player was on top of him, he held forsberg down and gave him a face wash to boot. matching penalties for roughing. huh??? so the embellishment of a dive can go both ways if you have the reputation of diving.

btw, a great team effort for colorado on tuesday. they came out strong and continued strong for the entire 60 minutes, taming the wild 5-1. about halfway through the game with the avs enjoying a commanding 5-0 lead, minnesota started to play a very dirty style of play. they brought out all their goons and started illegally hitting, slashing, boarding and whatever else they could do to several av players. look at the box score. they had about 100 pim. i think that kind of play has no place in the sport. imo, the intent to injure was definitely present. series tied 2-2.

I didn't say it was a fact. Obviously I am not or was not in his skates.

well, your statement about "which make it more obvious" would imply that yes, he dove and here is vidoe proof and people can choose which "proof" makes it more obvious. You're acting like teemu.

I thought I told you to ^^^^ off?

nice rebuttal

Alex is the only one that knows if he dove or not. Who gives a ^^^^? I'd rather fall than risk injury as well and have done so playing a variety of different sports.

Even you're smart enough to realize there is a BIG difference in going to down avoid possible injury ( or going down because you just hurt your leg ) and "taking a dive".

Of course there is. But it's a hell of a lot harder to tell the difference as a spectator. I haven't seen the play so I'm not judging anything or anyone.

I can't say he did or didn't, but I can say that if I felt my knee start to lock up or something like that, I'd have no problem falling to the ice to prevent possible injury.

sometimes the stars of the game embellish if they are the victims of an illegal move to draw attention to the infraction. once that's established, the refs seem to take an interest and they don't let anyone get away with anything around that player. almost like that player is protected. seen it happen many times. i think the league wants to make sure the stars of the game don't get creamed. injured stars don't sell tickets.

i thought about it and i think this practice should be called 'the gretzky effect'. imo, having the freedom to skate up and down the ice without getting smashed helped gretzky score all those goals. sort of like if hockey was a non-contact sport, like an all-star game.

Dude you ever compare me to Teemu again and we will have a problem. I have been nothing but nice about this whole thing. You compare your fandom to my Eagles fandom yet you are so wrong. You tore the Eagles a new ^^^^^^^ everytime I talked about them but I never let that ruin a friendship. I call out one play and you take it so serious? Maybe it is because you know he took a dive. Maybe it is because I don't know why. Stop being a damn baby about either way. I am still your friend and expect the same from you. I still think he took a dive and that is my opinion. Why the F would you compare me to a douche like teemu?
