Is it just me, or are these Hot Toys prices getting a bit ridiculous?
Or is it just the last two DX's being Disney and Lucasfilm licenses?
They are inching their way up to prices of comiquettes and premium formats. :(

It all depends on the figure. This one is pretty elaborate, the head not only has the posabe eyes, but removable faces which probably makes for an interesting way of making the eyes posable.

Not only that, but the costume is way more complex than any other figures they've done, and the steering wheel accessory is pretty big.

Yes, the prices are getting WAY out of hand.

Wow these really are high res pics. You can see the stamping of the paper they are using for the back drop on this one.

What's in his hand in this pic?

Don't forget that demand plays into this too. HT doesn't have a gun to anyone's head.

Thanks for the comparison shots.

Interesting about the hat.
What is it exactly that you are having issues with?

It's too big in every dimension. It's like 150% the size it should be. Even the old HT hat was a bit too big. Part of the issue is making it removable but this one just looks massive on him. Paint and detailing look great though.

lmao seriously?

I know, seriously? Mr. fan, I agree...

The type of posts that dude made is what makes this board easily one of the most ridiculed. Scrutinizing a figure is something that can be justified, but sometimes the assumptions, over analyzation and microscopic assessments of figures, based off pictures and nothing else just makes this place unbearable.

No doubt, when Sparrow is released, whoever does not purchase one will go nuts about the quality and how the prices will be obscene in the 2ndary market int he long run. That will speak volumes about the product.

I see.
I'm not as big a fan as you, so I take your word for it.
Personally, it looks fine to me. It's such an impressive figure.

I'm sure something like that will not stop you from preordering. :)

It hasn't, I just plan on finding a way to use the old HT hat with it. I've got Jack on order, I've been waiting since the DX line started for him to get made, he is the perfect character for a posable eye system, even more than Ledger Joker, I can't think of another figure that can take advantage of it. That and loving Jack so much as a character, it's just nice to have a sculpt and paint job up to today's quality, especially with the dirtying effects HT gets now. The old ones, I applaud the effort but they basically just gave him a darker skin tone which really isn't true. Sure Johnny was tanned from being in the sun so much, but most of sparrows skin color comes from dirt and things. Plus HT went a bit dark with the skin on the old ones too. For some reason they went through a period when the POTC figures and some other releases of that time came out where skin tones weren't really like real people skin colors, they were more realistic than the earliest HT figures, but it was a growth period. Like their Rambos that came out at that time, nice figures, but the skin color really isn't like Stallone or any person really. Today's figures are great, the flesh tones are true to each person as they should be and the realism is fantastic. I love the dirt on Jack, you can really see it around his cheeks.

:lol I love that I'm not a big enough fan of anything to be bothered by screen-accuracy details.

I have nothing new to add about this glorious figure that I haven't already said. So I will express my satisfaction with a fist pump:

:yess:

It's a shame some people abuse things though. I've never cancelled an order.
