I've been keeping mum until I can do some decent shots with my SLR film camera, but I've had my Les works back for a week now and it's been HARD to shut up. They are simply marvelous. I shot one figure yesterday, and hope to do the rest today or tomorrow. I'll try some digital stuff too while I have the light tent set up, but you know how mediocre my digital camera is. Then it's off to the one-hour lab; if the color's off I'll rebalance it in Photoshop.

This guy looks like Hayden from across the room, and close up the detail is incredible. JC Hong my a**.

Hello all, this is my 1st post here although I have been a long time lurker on these boards. I just wanted to share my attempt at a repaint with everyone. Hope you like it.
Welcome alcoa! I think you did a really nice job on your repaint! :D And Gruff, I can't wait see your Les pics and add them to my screen saver ;)

While I have a lot of respect for Les' reworked and repainted Anakin which is awe-inspiring with its uncanny resemblance to Hayden (judging by the pics posted here anyway......Btw, Gruff, can't wait for your pics!:monkey5 ), I admire JC Hong's amazing repainted Luke too!

I mean, every master artist has his own style and expertise and is very good at what he does. Let's respect the artists and their works. They bring hope to lesser talented people like us and inspire us to mimic their works.:D

Yeah, I really admire JC's work too. I just got carried away there for a moment.

Used my SLR film camera for the first time in a long while today. I put the figs in a black-background light box and didn't quite hit the right exposure - black costumes had good separation from the black background, but the faces' shading details were a bit washed out, and it's the paint everyone wants to see. Going to try again tomorrow.

FigureMaster Les STRIKES!!!

Okay...a few pics of the other figures will be forthcoming in various forums...but here are a few peeks at my Anakin exclusive as repainted by Les Walker, FIGURE MASTER. Hope I've done Les justice:

Congrats to your ''new'' Anakin, Bear, this really looks like him now.

Thanks Gruff, please post more when you get a chance with different or natural lighting if you can, a few seem to wash out the skin tones a bit, 4th pic looks really great!

btw, your poses and composition are absolutely excellent IMO, thanks so much for taking the time to treat us!

I'm just speechless! I would kill or sell my soul to have something like that! Congrats, you have a masterpiece in your hands!:monkey5

Thanks for posting this Bear boy!
And thanks for all the comments.
I hate comparing art, so let's not give old JC any trouble! He's likely to come and put a custom whoopin' on my South Georgia butt for it!
He's great!

BTW, I can't see your posted pics either.
Here is a link to the page with the one shot you sent me on my site:

Hope that helps some...
And, again, thanks! :D

Here ya go Les, thanks Gruff, love it, love it love it!

I feel like Gary Oldman in Batman Begins when he first saw the Tumbler............"I've got to get me one of those". :D

Here's my attempt at repainting the lips. I used nail polish remover to get rid of the "Goth lipstick" color and then mixed Medium Flesh and Christmas Red acrylic paints with a satin gloss finish over them. They are pinker than these pics let on, but the camera just didn't catch it.

does nail polish remover completely strip the paint off?

It can but it's often messy. Factory paint apps are usually so thin that I don't bother. I just give it a coat of primer and go to town.

Like so:

I think you did a great job SL! Much better, are you going to work on the eyebrows, it makes a world of difference because Andy's sculpt is there.

Whoa!!! That's incredible!!! Still doesn't look anything like Hayden, but that's Hasbro's screw-up. The paint job is superior, Mikey!! Well-done!! :chew :chew

In fact, that actually looks more like Sidious if he was severely burned... :)

Yeah, it does, so you have to be careful. Working partially off of instructions posted by VennyStar over on Rebelscum, I used a Q-Tip to apply the remover to the lips. It takes that paint right off without touching the skin color. However, if you press down even the slightest bit too hard, you'll start taking off the skin tone paint too and reveal the black underneath it all. I ran into that problem but it was minimal and I caught it in time.

Thank you. I appreciate that...especially in light of all the great repaints I've seen in this thread so far. But I think I'll leave well enough alone. The lips were a nerve-wracking experience because I came dangerously close to ruining the whole face.

Perhaps if I can find detailed, easy-to-follow instructions, I may alter the eyebrows and hair color, but I won't remove any paint again with nail polish remover. Too tricky and too dangerous.
