Because it is annoying to see a franchise ruined for the next generation. And they know nothing. And the nerd rage goes super nova because someone just asked "Why weren't there any Predators in Prometheus"?

Screw the next generation. I can find something I like in each of the seperate franchises and any crossovers that happened. The only films not open to abuse/debate/hate are Alien and Predator; even their sequels still take a bashing by the last generation to this day.

^^^ you're missing the point... What I'm saying is why is it even "ruined" in the first place? Alien is still Alien, Aliens is still Aliens... They only become different movies when a viewer allows their somewhat overexagerrated reaction to a later movie affect their views of the aforementioned previous movies.

I just don't understand why people allow a movie that they deem to be of an inferior quality get to them so much that it changes their opinion of something they previously enjoyed. In my opinion it is sad and ridiculous.

It's like really loving the 1967 Ford Mustang, not liking the 2010 Ford Mustang, and then deciding that you no longer like the 1967 car any more... Stupid logic

Again, I will say "IMO" to be safe

Alien was an incredible movie when I first saw it, just because I didn't like AVP as much doesn't mean that Alien is now an inferior movie to me.

News flash ...Alien came out before Aliens and Alien is Scotts work...Go to Cameron if you want Queen history...although I would love if there was some link to a Queen

Also the whole Bishop being modeled after Weyland throws the Prometheus/Alien timeline out of the way, I think...

That was an AvP thing wasn't it? I don't recall it being stated in Aliens or Alien 3 that Bishop was based on Weyland.

Some of the Bond movies weren't that great, so now suddenly I can't love installments that I previously enjoyed such as From Russia With Love, Goldeneye, and Casino Royale?

and your last sentence is all I'm saying. I merely would like him not to cast aside Aliens like the AvPs. I'm not saying he has to go and make a film about something Cameron did.

Also, Aliens didn't contradict anything in Alien except for the deleted idea of the life cycle

I think that is because the Bond movies really don't have a continuity (barring Casino Royale and Quantum).

No it's not.

AvP changes the canon entirely. It makes Alien 3's ending moot, it makes Alien and Aliens moot because the Aliens have been on earth, twice, and Predators saved the day.

So Ripley's journey is pointless and she could've just went home.

You don't seem to understand. It does ruin the other movies because it changes the other movies.

I still love it. My love for the film is there. But I've always said, it's not perfect. And I can point out the flaws, while still enjoying the hell out of it.

I got my BD and haven't had the chance to watch it... same with Avengers... I really need to check all these extras...

I've watched it 3 times now. Once a crap cam version and twice a DVD rip. I can see myself watching it again, I don't find it as offensive as my brothers seem to find it - there is definitely stuff to enjoy in it - not least the Engineers and the sense of wonder and fear they still elicit despite having been ''revealed'' so to speak. The score is good, the visuals are indeed good, its got many redeeming qualities and it is leagues more preferable to Alien Resurrection and the AvPs.

I guess I had been hoping for a one and done affair that explained the particular ship and Space Jockey on LV-426 but since we got what we got I'm curious where they go from here.
