So what are you doing to realize this better system?

For starters, I don't support the pesticide industry that makes chemicals that cause cancer in people when they are sprayed on crops the food comes from. I don't drink alcohol because I am smart enough to recognize a good idea when it is in front of my face to not put poison in my body and destroy my brain, liver, kidneys, and my heart.

I eat an all vegan diet that puts the minimum strain on natural resources and causes the least amount of environmental damage. Animal agriculture causes the aquifers to be depleted faster than rainwater can replenish them, which isn't a problem with a plant based diet.
It was the animal based diet that turned the Sahara Forest into the Sahara Desert long ago. Obviously I don't smoke and I don't support the drug industry whether legal or illegal. Those are just some of the things I do that make a concrete difference. If one ignores these issues, all of the talk in the world isn't going to be enough to make the world a better place. Thank you very much for asking.

Something tells me that everyone that disagrees with me drinks alcohol. Recognizing a good idea when it is right in front of you that will improve your quality of life is NOT to drink alcohol. If people can't even recognize THAT good idea which has measurable effects on the their health and the quality of their lives, they are unlikely to recognize any other good idea that can bring them benefit.

If people cannot even realize that it is a bad idea to drink poison , there is not much else they can realize for the benefit of their lives, because when their health is gone, they are dead, and everything they do or believe is for naught. Maybe some of the people who disagree with me ARE wise enough not to drink, though. What do you think? Do you think any of the people who disagree with me strongly are non drinkers or care one bit about their health?

And your occupation/career which is destined to be a harbinger of the radical change that is to come would be...?

Nothing as pedestrian as teaching, sanitation engineer, or pool boy one can only readily admit. Those are only services in the grand cog.

Darth you appear to be obsessed with the occupations/career paradigm, and assume that professional pursuits are the only valuable and productive pastimes one can engage in in a functioning society.

I submit that being a half-informed, sanctimonious, tree-hugging middle-class puritan is in and of itself a valuable and productive role in society. You should thank Gaia that we live in a society that allows self-serving and half-witted individuals the freedom to do exactly this at the expense of those who have to think for a living.

Man, this thread jumped the shark a while back.

Actually it didn't. The thread is about education (and specifically teachers) being attacked-- The discussion is ongoing.

Nah, he's already made it clear he couldn't handle the stresses and structure to be able to cook a burger and have it ready by the time the car pulls up to the drive-thru window...

:slap of course, the environmentally-conscious mode of transport makes perfect sense.

Naw, that can't be it. Don't you know that fast food places are just another way for the man to control us? To indoctronate us and force us to live in a society that keeps them rich? They are brainwashing us with the fries! Wake up people!

Im thinking the truth is much closer to this:

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

George Carlin... Oh how we miss you.

I'm just skimming through some of these posts in an effort to catch up, but judging from some of the replies you guys are making Blackthorne is up to his usual antics. I respect his opinion even though I think he's definitely more talk than action on 99% of his soapbox sessions. This is a prime reason I've been using the ignore feature lately.

Well you really stuck it to the system. Well done for bucking the institutional trend, and what a novel strategy: by doing as little work as possible.

I don't know how many African and Asian children, upon being handed a formal primary and secondary education on a platter, would opt for such a strategy. I am fairly confident that upon commencement of their schooling they'd guess your rhetoric to be utter nonsense and upon graduation know it for sure.

I didn't say I didn't pay attention in class to what was said. If there was anything said worthwhile, I learned it. I just tried to do as little assignments as possible. I learned the info. I just didn't care for the menial grunt work of the assignments, because I didn't care if they knew I knew, because I didn't care what they thought.
The public school system is a brain washing institution, so if those African children get free education, the brain washing comes as a free BONUS! If the school system did it's job of brainwashing well, of COURSE those children would be absolutely convinced I was absolutely wrong. I would expect nothing less.

It does if the change you propose is impractical and radical.

Change happens very slowly over time, and is only brought about by people who have gotten to the top of the system, not those that live outside it.

Well, as far as change being impractical, impractical for WHO? For those that want to stay in power? Absolutely impractical. There is nothing necessarily wrong with radical change. Real change comes from the grass roots level.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

What have you done to impart change? Again, you're just like all the other talkers in Washington, preaching for change and doing jack ____. :lol

Me doing that job would be like an anti abortionist performing abortions at a clinic. not that I'm against abortion, but that isn't the point.

I already said I ate a vegan diet. That was a completely illogical speculation you made, which I believe was entirely rooted in the common perception that anyone who dislikes the system or isn't someone you want to believe is successful because you don't like them must be working fast food. It was a pedestrian variety of ridicule that makes me believe that you teach under the 6th grade.

I believe that if you are a school teacher, you are proud of what you do. Otherwise, you wouldn't do it. I have considered the public school system to be my sworn enemy since I was a little boy, because I object to it's oppressiveness and discouragement of creativity and individual empowerment.
Actually, I always thought of school teachers as being like Sith Lords when I was in school, and so I find it fascinating that your screen name would be DARTH Snoopy. I saw the establishment as the Empire and school teachers as being like Sith Lords who would try to turn people to the Dark Side. After all, school was so boring, and I needed to use some imagination to make it more exciting so I wouldn't fall asleep. I'm awake! The answer is twelve! :lol
So you have Darth for a Sith Lord, and Snoopy to appeal to the minds of children. I would be hard pressed to imagine a better name for someone whose career it is to turn children to the Dark Side and join the Empire. I suppose Darth Kangaroo or maybe Darth Garfield would would be in the same ballpark.

Knowing that you are a school teacher for the public school system, I suppose I would be disappointed and even disturbed or very concerned if you agreed with me. "A Sith Lord agrees with me?? Hmm, maybe I better reassess my views..." I have to say I say this in jest, but I still have always disliked public school teachers in general, and hated school, and I saw Superheroes and Star Wars as my spiritual refuge from the oppressive regime that the school system represents, and the the turning people to the Empire that they perform.
I don't feel bad that you disagree with me. I can assure you that there is no love lost here.

criticism for it's own sake, because I get off on negativity, just like I do in practically every other thread...criticism for it's own sake, because I get off on negativity, just like I do in practically every other thread...criticism for it's own sake, because I get off on negativity, just like I do in practically every other thread...criticism for it's own sake, because I get off on negativity, just like I do in practically every other thread...

I already said what I did to impart change. I stopped financially supporting the things that destroy human life so much. Changing where you spend money changes the distribution of power, and supports good things, while letting bad things dwindle away.

So basically, you're either too chicken____ or too lazy to do anything but pedistal yourself and your ideas which only get you ridiculed by those with even the smallest fraction of common sense. The proof is right here in this very thread. The one person who should've been your ally, you managed to turn him against you as well. :cuckoo: :lol
