This is just one fan's opinion, But In a recent QnA, it seems that sideshow is now considering including "light-up" lightsabers with 1/6th jedi figures.

I'd like to request that you don't. The reason why is consistency within the established line. None of the figures so far have them, and it would look a little odd to suddenly start including them, as it would make figures seem to come from different lines.
Additionally, there is the issue of scaling. the hilts and blades would need to be slightly larger to accommodate the electronics. This throws them off slightly, and generally looks bad.

Another is the issue of having enough light. The recent Medicom UU Luke skywalker is an excellent example of not enough light.

As a final plea, if this is a direction you are determined to go with the 1/6th star wars line, May I humbly request that you include a Saber that is more in keeping with the existing aesthetic of the line with each figure. one that doesn't light up?

Anyone else want to weigh in on this?

Plus opening you cabinet, lighting each indidual figure, and turning them off later on is a waste, batteries will have to be replaced loads and no doubt it will push up the prices, even though many would not use the feature.

I don't know why moving beyond the Buck as an armiture is reason to end the consistency of the accessories as well.

The old lightsaber blade design was great. Probably the best in the whole history of Star Wars collectibles.

Look at the Joe line. Unfortunately, the older sculpts will look dated in comparison to R&R and Zartan. The bodies, more-so. Snake Eyes is already pretty much obsolete having a cloth mask while every single other figure in the line has had a sculpted mask. We've already seen they don't care much about height consistency (despite having stated to the contrary in Q&A regarding Indy and height concerns) with Lando coming out on a standard Pro and not fitting in with the height differencial they'd established on the buck. Yoda didn't come with a Stand further departing from consistency. So I don't see why consistency with past releases would be a concern as far as lightsabers when they've already shown it's not in other aspects.

Edit: I forgot about clone trooper bodysuits too. Despite the old ones molding, they're not even replacing them with new suits, just the same old pleathery ones. So add that to the inconsistency in lines as well.

Alright, Consistency aside, how about this.

mass produced light up lightsabers look bad.

It needs to be a solid light throughout, or it just looks.. wrong.

I think that lightsaber looks good.if they can upgrade ther figures good.if they can start making figures that look like the dx luke your telling me they shouldn't becaues the old ones look bad so the new ones should also look bad so they fit in?of course not.they are always tring to make a better product .

I'd like to see well done light up sabers too. After all these years, I'm kinda over just plain dull plastic representing a laser beam.

If the end product looked good enough, it would probably be the final push to get me back into collecting 1/6 Sith figures to be honest.

:lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly:

It does look bad. And it's a gimmick that would hardly get used enough to justify the price hike Sideshow would add to include said gimmick.

Some of us have already invested thousands into their 1/6 Star Wars line. That should have a little more pull than newbs jumping in and getting sold on gimmicks. If the figures don't display well together then that's kinda counterproductive to them being in the same line and a hard, cold shoulder to thousands of loyal customers who've helped them to grow. Let HT have the gimmicks to sell their $400 Star Wars figures.

alright, how about this. that figure that has the light up lightsaber is 300$. does it LOOk like it's worth that much money? because you can bet sideshow would likely charge in that price range if it were included.

Also, the light should be coming from the center of the blade and spreading out, not JUST at the hilt.

It looks cool, yes, but it looks like crap as a "light-up effect" for a lightsaber. Especialy at it's pricepoint.

Lastly, you should look at what Cathode sabers ( which are the BEST looking ones) look like when they are turned off.

As I said before, if they continue to include the sabers they have been, AND add in the light-up ones, you'll not hear a peep out of me.

Except about a too-high pricepoint. But that's nothing new.
