The one type of gun that baffles me regular citizens can have are assault rifles. Imagine if there were 2 or 3 people in this Orlando incident. Automatic assault rifles are the main guns used in these shootings no?

Any automatic rifles should be outlawed as well, by rifles i was referring to single shot loaders used by hunters or by snipers. Not semi-auto or fully auto military grade crap thats out there.

I think a lot of us have a hard time figuring out what can we do besides meeting violence with violence when it comes to people full of so much hatred like ISIS. That's the real problem, but I have no clue how it should be solved and I don't think anyone really does. This terrorism stuff is just so sad. I wish religion never existed.

We have the the Second Amendment of US Constitution to thank for this. The damn british terrorized our forefathers so much they were stupid enough to give anyone and everyone guns. You want to kill red coats, here take a gun. Then when all the red coats are gone you need to keep these guns "just in case" they come back...and now that we know there are never comming back we'll let you still keep them. Granted our forefathers werent talking about concealed weapons because concealed weapons didn't exist back then. Pretty tough to hide a rifle or musket- but who wants to hide a gun anyway?? Oh ya those that kill people or plan to use them to commit a crime.. but i digress. We cannot use logic we must leave the constitution alone, even though it is not relevant to the times or to the types guns that exist today. We can't take those guns away, never know when the evil red coats may come back- in the meantime, innocent people are shot while watching movies, dancing, walking in the park, working.. it's ridiculous.. there is no need for hand guns or other smaller weaponry, if it can be cancealed it should be outlawed. I have no problems with rifles, shot guns or other larger firearms.

Gun legislation WON'T work. One just has to look at Chicago and New York City for proof. Both cities have some of the toughest gun laws in the US yet both top the list of gun related crimes every year.

Aren't guns the most affordable and accessible weapons though? In fact, you can buy a Glock 17 and easily convert it into a full automatic weapon and it shoots like a machine gun. It's illegal, but criminals don't care about the law.

I think the idea is that a assault or automatic rifle holds a lot more rounds and makes it so much easier to take mass amounts of lives in a very small amount of time. My main problem with this case is the FBI was kind of watching him, he was on their list, but somehow the security company he works for missed it, as well as the background check that allowed him to buy these guns.

ikr...I liked how in the middle of his press conference he "subtly" pushed his agenda...like criminals and terrorists are gonna follow the rules and not get a gun...

"welp, I was gonna go out and commit a terrorist act but all the gunz are illegal now so I guess I'll just stay home and pray for America's demise"

The guy sure didn't use pencils to kill all those people though. Granted I have no interest in firearms so my knowledge is limited but if hunting rifles were just as capable why don't soldiers use them in combat instead of the AR-15 in general combat(not including sniper type missions while deadly can't kill 50 people in a matter of minutes).

Agree, but people don't have the patience. The culture won't allow it. They'll blame it on terrorism or w/e else but not the root of the problem. These violence will go on and on and on......

There are now more guns in the U.S. than people, and the vast majority that are used in Mexico in violent crime also come from the States. I think most agree that there should be stricter gun laws, but when it comes time to put up or shut up, nothing happens. Granted, any individual can use whatever weapon for mass damage but selling a tool/weapon with the destructive power of a firearm shouldn't be sold out of the trunk of a car on in someones garage.

Islam is a religion of peace, this man and all the the other multiple thousands like him who've murdered in the prophets name don't represent Islam.
Nor do all the imams who preach jihad in the mosques around the world, they don't represent Islam either.
Oh and all those verses in the Quran about killing the infidel those aren't actually in the Quran either.

Also interesting how fast this got labeled a terrorist act by govt officials because it's against the homosexual community as opposed to the Ft.Hood massacre where soldiers were targeted. How many years later did the govt finally grudgingly admit it was terrorism?

Automatic weapons have been illegal for civilian use for a long time.

Actually, there are many semi-auto handguns that can be used with the same efficiency as a rifle. There are many highly trained military personnel and professional shooters that can shoot with incredible speed.
When the Bill of Rights was ratified we also spoke in public assembly, and they had no idea about computers/internet. Should they also ban those forms of communication? If you can't use the same logic to strip the other amendments, then the logic doesn't work.

Huh? It's a basic semi-automatic rifle that shoots in the same manner as weapons designed back in World War I. The only major difference is the furniture that houses it.

Actually they do. The M40 rifle has been in service since the 60s, and a trained marksman can shoot with effect at a rapid pace. I've actually gone hunting with my M1 Garand, which is a WWII battle rifle so I'm not sure what your point is. I've never seen an AR-15 in combat, but I think you're confused with the M4 or M16. Which are different than the civlian AR-15s.
