Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Nice pics MF, he actually poses pretty well and considering he has a crab leg I had no probs getting him to stand unaided either.
I have to disagree with Bardoon a little though, I think you can see a lot of Nighy's eyes in the sculpt, Pan Mak has done a stirling job IMHO, not perfect, but pretty damn close!.

I agree, I think it's quite close too. I think what throws off likeness a bit though is the use of darker paint around the eye sockets to enhance their depth under room lighting, but if they were more muted in color like the film, I think it'd show better. I thought they had the eye color wrong until I watched DMC last night and noticed it's wright but the eyes look whiter again because of the darker sockets making stronger contrast.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I don't have any issue with the likeness... looks great and you still can see some of the actor in there.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

The only likeness nit I have is that I wish HT would have furrowed his brow a bit more like the box art. It would have given him a bit more of a sinister look which is how I remember Jones looking throughout most of the film.

Other than that he really is an awesome display piece.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

PS. id also like to give a shout out to the SS packaging department. my jack sparrow box looks like somebody beat the ^^^^ out of it. if i was a box collector i would probably be pissed. isnt that big a deal to me though since it will just spend its life in a closet somewhere. oh well.

Yeah, my Davy Jones box was like that; I take my figures out of the box, but I'd still prefer the boxes to be NM/M.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

You can't necessarily blame SSC packing for damage on the box though, could happen at HT before Sideshow even gets their hands on them.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Great pics Sean. Love the group shot. I wish my Jack v1 had come out like that.

Got Jones yesterday. He's pretty cool the shininess of the figure fits with the character. I'm pretty impressed but I think Will might be the best of the 4 I have.

Good point, he's a little blank looking... some intensity would add a lot to his presence. But still, he really pops on the shelf. Kinda hoping we see more of his crew, I'd love a figure of that Hammerhead guy :rock

Well, at least in my case, my account is marked "ensure MIB packaging", and I pay a bit more for shipping/packaging. The outer shipping box wasn't noticeably damaged, so I have to believe the product box was like that when shipped. Unless all the Davy boxes were like that, I should have received a NM/M box.

i cant tell if mine was packed damaged or if it got damaged on its way to me. whoever packed this put both figures in one large box and then filled up the extra space with those air packs. the problem is they didnt center the figures and put packing around all the sides. instead 2 sides of the figures were pressed up against the shipping box and packing was shoved around the remaining 2 sides. the jack sparrow box is damaged around the corner and sides that didnt have packing. the shipper isnt noticeable crushed but it isnt 100% crisp either so i cant tell. anyway, i dont really care i just think they should have put a little more effort in packing these $300 worth of collectibles.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Still no processing email for Jack. WTF? Shaun of the Dead has processed though. My last email for Jack was the 3-5 day notice. MaulFan, I guess you were correct. It depends on when you order and that is what determines what wave we're set up for.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, they're also shipping 1:1 Palpatine busts right now. So there are 6 items, that I know of, being shipped right now so I'm sure things are crazy and they're doing the best they can to get it all out. Lots of combined shipping going on, like a lot of folks having Davy and Jack together, Frodo and Sam together. Chin up dude, you'll enjoy him so much when you get him you'll forget all about the wait.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I just got my notice from Alter Ego that Cannibal Jack will ship soon! I wish I had purchased Davy from Marc as well, I could have saved some $$ and probably received a mint box.

your box will probably be mint if it is shipping on its own. i think packing 2 figures together was an issue.

mmmmmmm....minty box.

I was referring to my Davy Jones box; I received Davy from Sideshow (by itself), and the product box was crushed.

Sorry to hear about your boxes. Mine were shipped the same way. I got lucky this time. I always have the fear of crushed boxes when dirty brown delivers.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Got to play a little with Davy today. Really an awesome figure overall. The smaller size still bugs me a bit, but it isn't as bad in person than in photos. He is one of those figures that reaches on "art."
