Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

It sounds like you'll be busy with the camera Maulfan, I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

no davy yet and i have to leave for work in about 10 minutes.:monkey2 in case i havent mentioned it before i HATE the damn signature requirement. i hate it. cant wait to try and get those hobbits next week.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I agree, you should be able to waive the signature option if you so choose, have some sort of thing you do on the site gives Sideshow a hard copy that your account authorized that to free them of responsibility. I'm fortunate to have a job where I can send those things, especially the last few months, my father used to work a fair ammount form his home office before but he's at a new job and rarely home so my packages would never have anyone to sign for them. It's nice they do it, but should be an option to not use it, there's a lot of circumstances where you just can't have it sent somewhere or have someone at home to sign.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Glad to hear you like him Sean... Very excited to get him after work today :rock

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Jack's going to take the same fuzting with the sash, it seems a little less starched than the V1's sash, but still to nice for Jack, a little soak and wrinkle and it should be good to go. I'll have to compare when I get home, but his shoulder strap for his sword does appear to hang further down and still has some slack you could use too. At first glance, his skin appears no different than my V1, but pictures and comments have made it seem like these are light, be curious to see how it stacks against my V1, might help me know just how dark some of the second wave Jack V1s came out like Josh's. Still in awe of the Cannibal head, it's almost a shame it has the makeup on, would look so great as just a regular head. I'm sure DA or someone will paint it just flesh or get a 2nd head for that.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Okay, so I got Davy today... what an impressive figure. I actually enjoyed getting to play with him more than Frodo and Sam. He's just all around great looking. And I'm quite impressed by the amount of articulation you can get out of him. Not up to standard 1/6, but given his design I think Hot Toys did an amazing job. So all top marks, then...

I put him next to Jack :monkey2 Waaaay to short... just standing he's shorter than Jack and he actually doesn't look as bulky. And I really think its more an issue of Jack being too tall, than Davy being too short. Probably the best option for a side-by-side is if you had DA or someone else repaint the Medicom figure.

But still, Davy is awesome, just wish HT had paid more attention to scale across the line.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

One other thing I'm really digging about this figure, is that the different parts of the body feel like you imagine they would. The coat feels slick and slimy, but the crab leg and claw feel like you're about to crack open a lobster. Very fun!

And again, aside from the size issue... I really don't think he could have turned out any more kickass :rock

My pictorial contributions...
(I wanted a good size comparison with Jack, but the photos really didn't illustrate it so I left them out).

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Nice pix, all!

I got my 4-7 day notice yesterday from DarkShadowCollectibles. So I hope to see this guy in person by late next week.

I'm determined to do surgery on Jack to accomodate Davy. I'll post the usual before and after shots.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Great pix J!!!

I hope I can pick one up down the road.My Jack and Elizabeth look lonely.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

You'll definitely need this one King... he really is a must-have. Unfortunately money doesn't always cooperate with us :lol Most likely you'll be able to get him later for less than retail.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Nice to see another happy Davy owner. Really, surgery on Jack is an option but once you have him in hand Wor-Gar you may find yourself so blown away by him it doesn't bother you as much.

Oh, and Jack's scabbard is the same size, no improvement there.

First batch, Cannibal Jack.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Man, is he a great looking figure! Seriously one of the most expressive sculpts and perfectly captures Jack!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

More pix -- MORE! :banana

Too bad on the scabbard. Oh well...

BTW, how easily are the heads removable/replaceable on Jack?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

At the moment, not so easy for me, which is odd cuz V1 comes off with little effort but the Cannibal head especially for me holds on and in both cased the neck comes off the shoulder and you have to work the neck out of the head.
