Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

As I supsected, Jack's shoulders still look too broad with the coat on, that coat's just too firmly stitched for the full TT. Still hoping for a DX with a better coat.

Some pics I took for MaulFan. Can anyone tell what I've changed?

It's either Jack's coat or Elizabeth's height.

I hope this will be the DX Sparrow.

It's Jack's coat. I put the Medicom coat on him (which looks like crap compared to his original coat), and it actually fits the slim shoulder body. I put his original coat back on him and futzed with his shirt a bit and it actually looks better now. I had already altered Elizabeth's height months ago, so I had changed both the coat and her height.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Another pic of Jack after I adjusted his shirt, so it wouldn't be bunched up in the shoulders of his jacket. The jacket looks much better now.

Have any of you smashing chaps got a spare HOt Toys Jack Head, Coat and Waist Coat you'd like to sell? If so please let me know! Cheers.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hot Toys is releasing new versions of some of their figures and calling them "DX" versions. They include updated and extra outfits, updated sculpts with either light up features (Bat Man) or movable eyes (Joker) and light up bases. They honestly look amazing. Take a trip over to the DC section of the forum and check out the photos. VERY cool.

Thanks! Those pics are incredibly awesome. Just when I thought I was safe from not being tempted to buy Batman and the Joker... :lol We definitely need a Jack Sparrow DX. I'll be happy to upgrade my Medicom Jack for something as awesome as that.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I'm pretty satisfied with my DMC Jack using the smiling sculpt, so I'll pass on any new Jack HT releases unless it's one of him from the new film in a different outfit, which is highly unlikely.

I would still buy a Barbossa (and a Norrington but that will never happen).

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Does anyone have problems with Will's ponytail falling out? I glue it back, but everytime I accidently touch it, it falls out again.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I've never had a problem with it. Jack's compass is the only thing that ever gave me trouble.

Yes, Will was just fine until I swapped his body and had to pop his head off. Now his ponytail keeps falling out with the slightest touch or movement. I think I'm going to have to superglue it back in.

I actually tied a couple knots in to the section where the string wraps around the compass loop and it has stayed in place.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I thought i'd try my Cannibal Jack on a new slim body.

I think it looks good. Should I leave it or go for a narrow shoulder?

Superglue hasn't worked for me yet. If you find a brand that seems to hold it let me know.

I like how that looks on the "slim" body myself. The only concern I had was with if the clothes would fit right and not be too baggy. How do the clothes fit on him?

The trousers and jacket are fine. The shirt is large, but i made a couple of folds in the material on the back at shoulder height of the shirt. I then taped it to hold folds permenantly. This pulls the sleaves up the arms as they were way to long. The sash has much more length as well. I think that is a good thing though as I think it looks more accurate now. The only other comment I have is that the visable chest is a different colour to neck/head. If this bothers you it will need to be painted.

What I did on my Jacks to keep his skin color consistent is unscrew the shoulder joint and just swap out the narrow shoulders with the normal. I think I'll try some new black slim bodies when they come out and put a light wash of color if needed to match the skin tone properly. The tailoring of the shirt is a good idea. I think I'll do that to the Jacks and Will to get the shirts to fit right.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I think that looks a lot better myself. I'm intending to snag a thin body to have a go at that too. I think it will also help the Cannibal Jack head (startled look version) look a little less undersized on him.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

This might be old news, but I just read an article (about Spielberg's Crichton Pirate movie) and it said that Disney was aiming for a 2011 release for Sparrow 4.
