Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

So how's the HT coat on him? Any improvement with the new body?

None, the coat's rigidly stictched at the shoulder, all that changes is there's a big empty gap in it instead of being filled out by figure arm, but it's still as wide looking as always.

Hopefully, DX Sparrow, and I'm going to talk about it that way because I feel 90% sure it'll happen at some point, will be on the slim body with a properly tailored coat.

Also, taking pictures, as much as the smiling head is more Jack than the stern one on the first release, it's too much a smile and not a smirk, even his left side looks happy and excited. A proper smirking head should look serious with a faint crack of a smile on one half of his lip, this head just doesn't quite capture that, Kojun's Sparrow does, hopefully he'll sculpt future HT Sparrow heads.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I don't have the Medicom coat so I'll have to make mine work... lots of water and shaping maybe.

Damn that HT coat!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

It might look a little better and maybe with some work could look even more better, but the shoulders are stitched very squared off, Medicom's is cut more rounded so it hugs the shoulders and just gives a much more Jack look.

Funny that a Hot Toys anorexic body is equal to a healthy Medicom one :lol

I'm now thinking of picking up another slim for Cannibal Jack, might not, and one for my T-1000 figure, I think it'd look good for him.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I'm glad I forgot and decided to test this out for myself, looking a few pages back, Tyler put his Jack on a slim but the shoulders make him look more like he's on a narrow shoulder TT at best, wonder what he did differently with the costuming that it still looks broad.

I knew the slim was the only hope for a body that'd be worth swapping out for, the narrow would probably help but not enough to be worth the expense.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yeah it's sad that my Jack looms over my Dutch figure in stature and girth. Always knew something was "off" about that fig....

The only possible difference could be that I flexed the shoulders out as far as they would go. Maybe your shoulders are pushed in closer to the body. Mine is definately on a slim body as well.

I like it. Fits Sparrow. Definitely vague though. I assume deliberately.

It's vague now, but Dead Man's Chest and At World's End didn't tell you too much about the story either.

Well more so than this. Plus those titles came out of finished stories. This one is probably still being worked out. "Stranger Tides" is about as vague as you can get for a water movie.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Well according to Scubasteve's reporting, the story may be borrowed from a pirate novel.

Or maybe just the title.

Here's the log line:

The protagonist sails to Haiti to recover his father's lost plantation & enters a Caribbean pirate empire ruled by Blackbeard, a child of voodoo whose spirit is infested with ghosts. The hero is pressed into piracy & sorcery as Blackbeard searches for the Fountain of Lost Youth.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

If this is a pick up of the end to AWE, then I like the title even better, I would have expected something about the fountain of youth in the title and somehow think that would be cheesy.
