Just finished the first of quite a few PotC customs that I have in the pipeline. First done is Elizabeth Swann from CotBP - in the British uniform she wears in the final battle in the pirate's cave.

Clothing all started as existing pieces from various figures but were all extensively reworked. Hair is a little too full in the back, but I don't know yet if I want risk thinning it out. Eventually I'll make an Aztec pole for her to whack pirates with.

I actually swapped my Jacks and Will to Slim TT bodies and removed the ankle extensions from all 3 calves. The pirates definitely look shorter (they lost a good half inch or so), but it's true the boots won't stay on well. As long as you pose them on a stand, they will be fine. One could always add some padding or tape if you want the boots to stay on snug.

That's the same thing I was planning on doing with mine, especially considering you've changed the boots. I'd love to see a pic of how they turned out. How'd the coat turn out hanging on a slimmer body??

The coat hangs a bit better, but you've got to adjust the shirts and vests a bit to fit the slim body better. I tried some double sided tape, but it wasn't staying on tight. I'm going to have to get some stronger tape (the stuff I picked up was supposed to be extra tacky, but it's definitely not). I just haven't got around to doing that yet, but I'll post some pics of Jack so folks can see how the boots look.

Nice custom. How did you do the hair? I was considering ripping that moppy mess off of my Elizabeth's head and transplanting some realistic hair on her too. It looks like you used a Sideshow body too.

Yes, it is the dreaded Sideshow female buck! I didn't have too many other options lying around, and even fewer hands. Most of the buck is pretty covered this time, so I thought I could get away with it.

I sort of lucked into a solution on the hair - which is a little hard to describe in writing. It's from a cheap-o blonde halloween wig (synthetic). After some trial and error trying to glue pieces directly to the head, I got the idea to tie long strips of hair together with thread and then use the same thread to tie hair down to the head. If you pull the sculpted hair off of the Swann figure, you'll see her head ends in a square "plug" (no ears). So I just wrapped the thread around the plug and back through the hair several times, then glued the thread down to the head. The "part" in the hair is actually exposed thread. Even after tying the hair down, its still too rigid, though - almost sticks out horizontally to either side. So I had to "sculpt" it with lots of watered down glue and paint some reddish-brown in.

Wow you really did a great job on her. I wish they sold the other outfits since the one she came with is my least favorite of her basic looks.

I'm going to tweak and adjust the clothes on the slim body to fit better. My changes should enhance how the clothes fit on his shorter size and slimmer look.

Comparison pics with my taller modded George Washington, and Dutch to show how the boots still have thick soles, but not the platform heels that the original HT boots have.

Why did Hot toys stop the DMC line? They only produced the one Jack.

I saw that Geoffrey Rush was confirmed for Pirates 4. Hopefully this means we'll finally get a Barbossa from Hot Toys. Though, I'm still not taking him off my potential-custom list quite yet!

I thought the same thing when I read that Depp and Rush were coming back for the fourth movie. It'll be great to finally round out the pirates with Barbossa. Too bad we'll probably never get a proper Elizabeth though.

I wish they would have gotten further into Davy Jones crew too....the Zizzle figures only got though Davy and 6 members. NECA Davy and 4. I would love to see any of the following: Maccus Palifico, Bootstrap Bill, Clanker, Koleniko, Hadras, Penrod, Angler, Wheelback. Some of the greatest character designs ever done IMO.

Hot Toys figure selections are like Hollywood film choices, they stick to what's pretty sure to make good money, occassionally take a chance on something different, and release variants of a success until they've oversaturated the market.

Thus, you get 2 Jacks, 2 Sao's, 1 Elizabath, 1 Will and 1 Davy Jones, no Barbossa, and no one else.

ha, i was thinking the same thing, i only really want jack and barbossa from hot toys, so barbossa i thought would have been a must since hes really the second favorite pirate of the films.

as for hot toys jack sparrow, i SOOOOOOOO want him!!! but i guess im pretty late in the game, i cant seem to find him anywhere on ebay, i want the "regular" AWE version with his long coat that i guess is also removable. but where online are they selling him for a decent price? ebay doesnt have any available hardly, for sale or auction.

I'd love for them to go back and do a proper Elizabeth (as a pirate or in her gown from the first film) and a Will Turner with his hair out of the pony tail, but I don't think those are ever going to happen now...

Damn. That's an intimidating trio. The leadership and strategic mind of George Washington, the toughness and machine gun of Dutch, and the wild unpredictability of Johnny Depp pirate guy. Even Terminator would have his hands full with that bunch, I would bet. And if he does somehow take them down, he's gotta go through T-Rex, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Good luck with that!

^the jack and dutch figures look weird, wtf happened to them? are those customs? they dont look very good, jack sparrow is teh puffy and dutch has elongated neck syndrome. but where the hell did you get the washington??? that is actually very...interesting.

The Dutch is the Hot Toys factory made one, some people customize the neck to have the head sit lower, but I didn't want to mess with mine. Jack is on the slim body TT, so I guess that would make his face look puffier. The Washington is actually the SS one, which I had custom painted and customized the body to make him taller. In person the Washington (after customization) looks amazing, he really puts some of the Hot Toys figures to shame.
