Hmmm, wonder if them losing the license (if indeed they lost it) has anything to do with HT being displeased with it. Last interview with Howard when he was asked the difference between Marvel and DC, he made a point to mention that DC was more respectful of their license and didn't grant say two 1:6 companies the rights to manufacture their characters, whereas Marvel was more mercenary and selling it to direct competitors. Wonder if it smartened Marvel up. Who knows but it's interesting to speculate on.

:goodpost:

While I was initially wowed by PI's Iron Man 1:4 prototypes (and I have a PI 1:6 Batman).. I started to get concerned when new prototypes kept appearing, without earlier figures being released.. it started to look like a bad case of corporate overreach and that combined with the very high, proposed RRP for the figures, started to ring alarm bells.
I just couldn't see how so much money was being spent on developing a very large number of prototypes, before making a quantifiable return on released figures.. then there was the rush of 1:12 scale releases.. which looked like a sudden dash for cash flow.. into a 1:12 market which as far as I'm aware, doesn't have a history of extremely high RRPs for individual figures.

PI need to have a major rethink about their corporate strategy and concentrate on getting one awesome figure to market, rather than just continually announcing new prototypes.. Chogokin's C3PO being an excellent example of 'doing it right'.

Hey, I'm just curious - I also just bought the 1/6 Batman (new) from an EBay seller. There's a plastic 'insert' under the torso and kneecaps. Do these come off? Also, the shoulder armors seem ok, but they can be pulled off (slid off) the shoulders themselves and slid back on. Anyone else notice this?.

Yup, PI still looks more proportionate than HT.

I never see these go up for sale in the FS thread. Nobody wants to sell him, despite the QC issues? Or, not many have bought him in the first place. :lol

I got the second batch production, the quality already much improved compare to the 1st (failure) batch. I think the shape and paint quality is much better that HT. So many people drop their order because of the 1st batch issue, that's why only few pieces found in the market

The separate pieces make HT looks more detailed. Many parts on the PI are moulded together

@hrjoe: Thanks. That clears it up a bit.

@Bttfiii: HT no doubt is more detailed. However, I will take better / more accurate proportions any day over minor QC issues, etc.

To me, when a 12" figure is inside a detolf or on a shelf, only the bigger picture is seen. Unless I hold it in my hand and twist and turn it or pose him a lot, only then the detail would matter. Else I am good with it. In the above pic, all I see is two figures and cannot actually make out which one is more detailed. 1/4 and above, yes details would really matter. Yes, its price is surely high in relation to what the figure offers.

In case someone would like to sell him, lemme know. I do not need the stand or the HOA. :lecture

Thought I'll chip in since I purchased this figure just over a month ago along with my war machine mk2. No issues with mine and everything seems solid, along with sturdy articulation. Both warmachine and mk vii have no special gimmick parts (opening flaps etc) only spare sets of hands, so no biggy for me there. Looking at HT images online there is a little bit more detail, but it is still a beautiful piece. I wanted a clean iron man fig and the paint work and presence is superb. He stands nicely in my HOA.

On another note, my war machine came with a dodgy hand and I sent hottoys a few emails/pics yet not one reply.

I'm sure they will get back to you, How long are you waiting now?

Also I'm pleased to hear you enjoy the figure, I myself just ordered my War Machine a few days ago and now I'm even more excited to get it

Maybe it's lighting and positioning but the PI looks far shinier, and it doesn't seem like they're that grey area between the head and each shoulder. Thigh armor looks a bit different too. The PI arms lack the soft material in the HT as well.

I agree with people saying it's not worth twice the money at all, especially with the lack of accessories and QC. What are some of the other QC issues though?

The plate on the thighs look like there diecast. If there not then that paint app Gives it that nice chrome look.

most of the PI is diecast from what I feel and its very shiny indeed.

PI is indeed more shiny and gloosy. Colour is brigther. HT is a bit darker with very-very soft purple tone.
About the soft material in the arm, this one is annoying, this rubber prevent the arm to fold maximum. I have to hold it if I want to fold it completely. And still not as deep as PI arm can go. PI arm hinge is consist of two hinge points. This design makes it more poseable, and very stable/firm.
But PI neck is annoying, head movement is limited, cannot look up/above. Thigh articulation is better than HT. HT fingers, knee and ankle articulation is better.
PI is a bit overprice. But after you hold the figure in your hand and feel the weight and feeling of the material, the colour and glossy paint, the shape. You will feel a very big temptation to have it. So heavy that you can say this is "iron" man.
