I just got back from seeing it again. I think it may be my favorite of the three. Although I really don't quite consider it stand alone, to me you have to watch DMC and AWE together.

Did anyone notice that in Singapore there were some guys in the tubs of water and to me it looked like they had some coral growing on them...

I missed it the first time, but I found it ironic that Will died in the third movie with the sword he made in the first. I really love how these movies came so full circle.

I noticed the tub guys and thought it odd at first and having seen the whole film, it really was kinda pointless, there was no connection to the Dutchman crew for those guys, it was just some ugly element to spook the audience a bit.

Forgot to ask before, anyone know the lines to "Hoist the Colors"? I've got the tune stuck in my head and I'm hoping if I can get the words maybe it'll go away.

Don't know the words, but I had the score before seeing the fiml and that track seemed so out of place until I saw the context of it, it's depressing but at least it fits now.

Found this on a lyrics site....

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho,
thieves and beggars,
never shall we die.

The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her Bones.
The seas be ours
and by the powers
where we will well roam.

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.

Some men have died
and some are alive
and others sail on the sea
– with the keys to the cage...
and the Devil to pay
we lay to Fiddler's Green!

The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,
pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home!

Yo, ho, haul together,
hoist the colors high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
never say we die.

The King and his men stole the Queen from her bed,
And bound her in her bones.
The seas be ours, and by the powers,
Where we will, we'll roam.
Yo ho, all hands,
Hoist the colours high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
Never shall we die.
Some men have died and some are alive and others sail on the sea –
with the keys to the cage...
and the Devil to pay
we lay to Fiddler's Green.
The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave...
Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all,
pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home.
Yo ho, all together,
Hoist the colours high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
Never shall we die.

Thanks pallies, it seems to have done the trick too, as soon as I tried to sing it I lost the bloody tune. :rotfl Maulfan, I agree, it is a very sombre tune. To me it was the perfect way to set the stage for the dismal conditions in Port Royal.

Everything you said agrees with what I understood, except this part. I do't see anything that implies that the betrayal had to occur within the last hundred years. All we know is that it occurred before any of the current brethren court were alive, since the "nine pieces of whatever we had in our pockets at the time" ;) were passed down from previous members of the court to the current members. It could have been the previous members who bound Calypso, or it could have happened several generations back.

I am sorry it took so long for me to respond but here is how it breaks down:

The very first Bretheren Council which happened long before the birth of Barbossa and any of the other members in AWE bound Calypso to human form. Since then there have been 3 gatherings including the one in AWE.

The years I am using are from the POTC timeline chart on Wikipedia in their Wikipedia POTC section.

If you or anyone else have any questions about POTC or anything else I suggest you check it out there on Wikipedia. They had the complete story of AWE a week before the movie premiered. They are that good.

Just don't read the spoilers section before seeing a movie, unless you want to ruin the movie for yourself. It is tempting though, I wonder what's up with Fantastic Four 2?

My wife pointed out the interesting possibility that post-credit Elizabeth may have benefited from the Fountain of Youth that Barbossa and Jack quested for at the pre-credit end of the film.

That might ease the suck of having to wait ten years to get Will into bed.

Poor kid though. If I only got laid once every ten years, I probably wouldn't spend that much time with the progeny.

Possible but nothing in the film leads us to believe that Jack had anything to do with Elizabeth or really anyone else in the film when he sails for Florida at the end of the film because he is alone. Barbossa would probably go looking for him to get the map piece but Elizabeth would have no real cause to leave the Chest behind and go off on another adventure......

Just saw the movie last night and I liked it, to a point. I went to a late showing, which was a bad idea, the movie was SO long. It felt like it was never going to end. But I enjoyed it a lot. The movie was far from perfect, but I think it being so fun made up for the imperfections. I especially like the part where elizabeth was wearing will's boot :love :love :love :love

Anyway, don't have time to read every post, but I did have some questions about the movie.

When Callisto was released from her human form, she turned into a bunch of crabs. When Jack was in the desert/locker worlds, his ship was being dragged by crabs, coincidence? Speaking of desert/locker world, WTF was that? was it heaven/purgatory/the afterlife? Why was he the only one there? Was it because Davy Jones was supposed to stay in the afterlife and guide souls there but stopped doing it? That's it for now, but I leave with a comment. Wouldn't it have been funny is Mr. Cotton's Parrot had stabbed Davy Jones' heart, or the monkey Jack. I was waiting for that to laugh my A$$ off, but it never came:monkey2 :monkey2

Jack could always bottle a bit and bring it back to her. After all if Will is immortal and he is immortal maybe he'd share with her.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I never treat wikipedia as an all-encompassing, authoritative source on any topic, especially one that is clearly marked as "original research" and "contains unverified claims". It may be some nice speculation, but it is hardly definitive.

All that we know is that the first Brethren Court, following the instructions given by Davy Jones, bound Calypso, and that they did so before any of the current pirate lords were born. It could have been as "recent" as 70 years before AWE, but it could also have been as long as 200 years.

I think Jack was in the Locker because of what Bootstrap said in Dead Man's Chest. Jack tried to weazle out of his debt with the argument that the Dutchman already has a captain and Bootstrap said well then it's the locker for you, plus Jones didn't take Jack onto his ship and crew like the others, Jack was devoured by the Kracken. Bottom line, it's a fantasy so they can make it all up as they wish with no rationale, plus if Jack were anywhere but the Locker, there'd be no rescuing him because the only way to rescue anyone from Jones' crew would be to kill Jones like Will wanted for his father.

Are you talking about the same Jack Sparrow as the rest of us lol. Jack has his honorable moments, but no way he'd ever do something like that. Likely he'd hit on her and try to shack up with her in Will's absence.

One thing I didn't get and maybe I just missed it. Why was the Kracken dead on a beach??? I didn't see any explination. It was just dead.

Earlier in the film Beckett told Jones to kill his "pet" AKA the Kraken.

No the crabs were not a coincidence. You can clearly see them move under her dress as the Black Pearl 'sails' by. She is also petting one in her hand.

Keep in mind that what Jack wanted more than anything else was to be immortal and sail the seas forever. He had that in his hands when Jones stabbed Will. Jack could have stabbed the heart himself and had everything he wanted forever.

He gave up immortality and his Dream.

To save Will.

That's Jack Sparrow. Excuse me. Captain Jack Sparrow.
