Didnt wanna make ya feel awkward!
At the same time I aint going to lie.
Hey, it's totally cool. No reason to feel awkward about it, and if anything, I'd say you're in luck; wouldn't guys be more tolerant of collectors? Even if you're after a relationship, I would think a girl is much more likely to be critical. You've got a real advantage over the rest of us, come to think of it!
Thanks for the encouragement to open this figure, by the way. After spending half an hour basking in its kick-assedness, it blows my mind I was able to wait this long. Good lord, it's absolutely sublime. The head only came off once in the last hour and that was when I tried posing it downward (I'm going for the wrist detonator look). I simply put it back on, made sure it was secure, and life's good.
In all honesty, I actually dig the headsculpt -- a lot. In person it looks pretty damn close to the 1987 P1 (yeah, I said it) even in the mandible areas. Maybe they touched them up since the prototype days. As tempted as I was to display him unmasked though, I decided to use the BD helmet because:
1. I know the 1/4 P1 they're making will be even more accurate
2. I'll want to display it fighting the 1/4 Dutch, so he'll have to be unmasked and roaring anyway
3. Bigger figure = better paint apps (though you can't slam HT's 1/6 game anymore... it's perfection)
To conclude, it's a hell of a figure. Purists and trolls may not feel like they're getting their money's worth for $225, but I can easily tell that the $100 price increase from the first AVP Predators was put to good use.
Oh, and an extra pat on the back for using airbrush on the spots! Really pushes the realism of this guy, I only wish they did this on Shadow since he doesn't even seem like he's on the same playing field as Classic. Ah, well. They probably didn't put as much work into it to get it ready for the exclusives season. That and Shadow really struck me as a mere taste of improvements to come, most of which were firmly set in stone by Classic.
My night is officially awesome.
