Could the head be taken off and the mask slipped on from underneath the chin? Might be a way to avoid the paint rubs on the nose seeing as most heads are larger at the top than the bottom. I don't have this figure so it's merely conjecture on my part.

That is what Denny suggested but it doesn't work.

Well mmmmmmmbrains got it to work that way but he said he had to force the mask over his face, the paint will rub off in no time. In addition Denny said that the green from the mask might rub off on his nose and you can scrape it off with a knife?? doesn't sound like a good set up if you ask me. No sir. custom straps have gotta happen I'm afraid :(

No gripes about the paintjob being too dark? My Lecter looks like hes played by Antonio Hopkins! Or maybe he spent too much time at the tanning booth in Baltimore! This piece is gonna needs lots of love!

It's true mags but I thought that way about a few iminime paint jobs including Rhas and alfred etc.

There's something off about his face now that I have it in hand too, plus the lack of gurney, the weirdness of the stock straight jacket uniform.

I'm just not elated like I want to be about Hannibal.. I do think the ingredients are here, it's going to be one of those projects with endless modding and customizing and no instant gratification that's for sure.

I'm on line at the PO waiting to pick this guy up right now. Don't like what I'm hearing. I'm hoping that I'll have luck like Brains and be able to get the mask on somewhat painlessly

Its good to have a back up plan. I plan to keep the mask on my iminime sculpt for good.

SPeaking of which, any more word from Tom, Mike?

Guys trust me on this please I've been buying these for a long time, I also dabble in panting and I know how the materials work for this stuff and how paint reacts on resin, sealing, cssting methods etc.

In less you plan to keep the mask on permanently like Wake said.

DO NOT FORCE IT OVER HIS FACE. It will almost definitely cause paint damage at some time. You guys spent a small fortune on this and I don't want to see that happen.

I know it seems liek you are kind of stuck but I'm sure one of us will find some way to make replacement straps and offer a run of mask modifications or something. If i can figure out a good mass way to do that I can do that but not making any promises because Im not sure how im gonna be able to pull i off once. It will be simple in principal all it needs is a buckle system at the end of each strap or replacement with straps that have more elasticity.

It sucks I know but once the paint is rubbed you can't go back. Be careful and don't force it.

I've been obsessing abut the straightjacket... I think the Medicom one is a lot more accurate looking, cant justify dropping the cost on that though...

iminimes needs a tinge of brownish/yellow dye job I think and the material is too smooth, maybe taking sandpaper to it will break it in a bit and add texture.... ahhhh so much work to do :(

Please keep us updated on your mods. Keep a recipe if you will!

Guys, I don't have this in hand yet, but this is just getting old, I am a huge iminime supporter. , I own all of their figs except for maybe 3, and I buy all the dx versions, but the same complaints figure after figure has to stop, now I am going off some real credible sources here who have gotten their figure already, for the money this figure should not require a lot of work like ray says,,, we have to start speaking up, log your comlaint with Denny, why do people settle for an ok product? If this isn't up to pare something needs to be done, and to me spending more money on mods is not it, what can Denny do for us??

For me personally, the little work that comes with some figures is fun for me. Its the reason Im in the hobby. I do understand that is not for everyone.

I dropped him a note of concern. Waiting for his reply.

You're right bro. The price creeped up a bit on this one so my expectations were a bit higher. Like Robbie said I do enjoy the process a bit of customizing so I'm ok to a certain degree however I do think tha the ball was dropped on a couple things here.

Here's my breakdown...

1) heads, paint job as per usual is great but it's not rainman's best portrait. It looks kind of creepy but not on the right/good way. He gives me a doll vibe just like Hugo from the Matrix did that's why I had to sell it. Hannibal is not expendable tho.
2) prison outfits. These are good, cant think of any noticeable improvements
3) fat suit. Not bad, but just cant work on the regular narrow shoulder TTs or advanced TTs. not quite old mannish enough. My recipe works though regular narrow shoulder bottom half slim top half and the fatsuit.
4) shoes, do I even need to talk about these? lol/ You know the drill. One thing I am noticing from some movie stills is that the shoes he is wearing on the gurney have white rubber soles on them. The hunt begins!
5) mask: a total mess, sculpt is great but paint is bad, it should be green not brown and it needs the weathering. Actually it;s supposed to be a waxed leather coated steel mask, so it should have a granular texture to it too, but it still has the sheen. I'm thinking of taking sandpaper to mine repainting it completely and buffing it up. And yeah these straps... the mask does not fit on his head.
6) Lastly the straight jacket. Might be the most disappointing thing aside from the mask.. will have to see if it can be worked on to look better. Biggest problem is color and material sourcing, actual construction is really pretty good.

I get why thing are not just a bit better because of the r and d costs etc. can;t help but be dissapointed but this is the closest I've got to a good Hannibal once its all said and done I'm sure i'll be happy enough.

I got on the iminime website and those are really cool looking figures. The Hannibal head looks pretty good but seems a little to round when Hopkins has a more oval head. I really liked the Walking Dead outfits but had a bit of sticker shock on them. For $360, I would at least expect a quality body to go with it. Don't get me wrong, the pieces look great but it's basically only a button up shirt and jeans for the outfit. The accessories look great but just not sure for the price. I've not seen one in person so they may look really good. I'm new to the customizing end but I've collected Hot Toys, Sideshow figures for years and just don't understand the pricing.

I'm thinking of stuffing a bit of cotton in between the nose and mask. Ray you have me really worried about paint rub now. :lol I HAD to get his mask on though, that's Hannibal to me. I plan on leaving him masked but for the sake of keeping the figure mint I should probably take some precaution.

The price is pretty much on point. Body is 30, paint 100, sculpt 60, prison outfit 80, straight jacket 80, baton/pen 10. It's about the right price in my eyes.

I'm glad I cancelled this one. Happy for you who's satisfied, but I hope there will be a proper Lecter figure with the perfect likeness someday.

The difference in price is that most of these items are produced by hand and not mass manufacturing i.e. sideshow and Hot toys, so basically yoou are paying for the labor/time. Iminime is actually on the lower cost end of things because they partly produce by hand, partly mass-produce.

Items like Rainman offers are a lot more expensive because it is all hand made, that's why a single figure can cost around 800ish

Well that definitely makes sense as it's using handmade and manufactured items. Like I said, I really think it looks good. I looked on rainman's website and despite looking nice, I can't believe they sell for $800. Holy crap Batman! Be did have some VERY accurate sculpts but I've seen awesome sculpts and paints on here much cheaper(ie WGP OR Velvet Morning) for $60-70 and throw a Skiman paint job for $65 or $70. That's a $140. Amy Jones or Gwen St.Clair will make an awesome handmade outfit for a $100. Basically what im saying is, I think you're right. The iminime price is not that bad. I love the look of it. But the if I ever have to pay $800 for an outfit, im definitely out of my element. And again, please don't get me wrong because that Rainman work is great, I just don't see that it's that much, if any, better. Just my opinion and we know what they say about everyone having one. Lol

I am also a huge supporter since Michael Corleone. I have come to expect a certain quality standard from Iminime. Not Rainman quality but real close.

After the superb Neo I am disappointed in this figure.

I ordered my figure normal painted with crazy eyes. I was told this wouldn't be a problem as long I specified it in the purchase order which I did. I also sent an email as well.

After receiving my shipping notice I inquired again about my eye paint and Denny said it hadn't been done but to send my head back and it would be fixed. Awesome!

Flash forward to last night and me actually opening my box. What the hell has happened to this figure???

There were more things wrong!

I extended my thoughts to Denny immediately and was greeted with somewhat of a disgustful reply where he just wanted to refund my money cause his product couldn't live up to my standards.

I expressed I didn't want a refund just what I paid for so I'm still waiting to hear back.

At this point I just want my head with the eye paint I requested as per Dennys advice.

I do not want a refund but I at least want my head with correct eyes. I'll go elsewhere for more mods unforunatley.

Now here are my gripes.

The Body is definitely different from the photos and it shows right out the box. Ugly but fixable.

The mask is not painted like it was shown in the photos. Why not paint it like we were shown?

The skin tone on my figure has a serious suntan which forced me to grab my copy of SOL out immediately to compare in case I was wrong. I'm not. Hopkins skin tone is more than a tad whiter than my dark faced head. This I can live with cause I'm keeping him masked.

My straps on said mask do not fit like they were shown in sales photos. Big problem. It kills the whole look of the mask.

Now I know all of this can be remedied. But its at an additional cost that I didn't factor in. I was mislead by the sales photos as others are now feeling.

My experience with Iminime has always been great. I have got what I paid for (Michael Corleone) and was blown away by my Neo straight out the box.

Now I know there are schedules to keep and all but maybe they need to slow down a bit and focus on the product we have paid for before Wake :lol announces another project.

The added pressure is definitely showing now with this release.

All I ask is for my Lecter to look like he did in the photos. Am I wrong for this????
