It always does. :(

That's why these threads always end up in the same place:

Indeed. Both of these guys are sleazebags in my view. But we've gotta choose one of them. Voting for a third party candidate is (IMO) no better than not voting at all, so what are we to do?

It just seems that our choices are getting worse with each election cycle, not better. Something needs fixing.

I pretty much agree. Palin is the deal breaker for me with regards to voting for McCain. Still haven't decided yet.

I didn't say Conservatives don't give. According to those numbers they give quite a bit. I have to admit that does shock me a bit but I'd like to see what kinds of people or charities they're giving to.

That study doesn't also take into account that if you make a certain ammount of money that every CPA will tell you to donate to charity since it's a really good write off. That's what my CPA told me and my ex-wife when we were making too much money for not having children (at least in the governments eyes)

Oh, I saw the unedited version.

Another "emotional" response, I'm not surprised.

Another outburst like that and you're going to have to sit in time-out. :D

If you're going to continue to question my upbringing and my patriotism then yeah its gonna get personal. You don't want emotional don't go down that road.

This is true as well. I don't think most conservatives give out of kindness but more so the figures look good.

Don't get me wrong i'm sure there are conservatives that give because it's the right thing to do i just want to point out that studies are not always the best way to gauge things. The problem with most studies is that they tend to deal in absolutes when there are a lot of other factors - in this case it's one thing to say yes i give and here's the proof it's another thing to know the true reason why they give.

Again not trying to generalize the reason i started giving to the charity i did was because my CPA recomended it. I'm divorced now so i don't have to give anymore but i still do , so it started out one way and turned into another. It doesn't make me better or worse than anyone else.

But it does seem that you are implying that more conservatives give to charity for tax reasons than out of altruism, with no evidence to support that claim.

I also find it interesting to note how quickly people jump to the "wealthy= conservative" conclusion. Anyone here think Bill Gates is conservative? Think again.

I'm conservative, NOT wealthy, and I give a sizable chunk of my income, IN ADDITION to the insane amount of taxes I pay, to charitable causes.

It just gets kind of tiresome to have aspersions continually cast on your character.
