Me too. Hopefully this will be a simple firmware update. I wanted to use my tax refund to buy a new 360, not a PS3. :monkey2

I think if this has killed our systems you would think that Sony would make it right. Than again a firmware update killed my drive and it cost me $150 to get it fixed from Sony.

if yours isnt affected yet, I would hope you could disconnect your internet, turn on your PS3 and change the settings and then turn it on offline and watch your movies

I'm FAR to lazy to do all that. LOL!

Guess I can't watch any movies tonight. :tap

I watched Smallville this morning and my PS3 didn't burst into flames. The only thing that was wrong was the date and time.

I think you're safe if you just want to watch movies.

I'm sure they would too, but what would the turn around be if they had to replace all of the fat PS3s??? I'd be better off buying a new one then waiting for a replacement.

so will my PS3 explode if I turn it on or what? Is there only a problem when trying to log on to the PSN? I played Okami (for PS2) yesterday with no problems whatsoever... if I turn off my wireless router so the PS3 can't connect can I change the date and time before it screws up or should I just wait until we hear something???

https://www.thegamingvault.com/2010/03/game-retailers-refusing-to-trade-in-affected-ps3s/

News is currently circulating that European game retailer GAME is already refusing to trade in recently affected PS3 which were affected by the PSN / PS3 hardware failures which occurred earlier today.

Owners who have been attempting to trade in their “fat” PS3s for the currently-unaffected slim models are apparently being refused, reliable reports have indicated to us. GAME is refusing trade for those consoles at this time.

We have received word directly from consumers regarding this as well.

We’ll keep you informed on any more updates regarding the PS3’s recent problems as we get them.

I can't believe this thread has made it this far without the obligatory "It's your fault, you must be do doing something wrong." post.

hmmmm.... wasn't there a similar problem like this back when MW2's 1.09 update was released? People were stsating that after the update their ps3's got the YLOD (Yellow light of Death)....and it only happened to the older models (que the Michael Meyers theme)... Dozens of PS3's were killed that day......and does all of this some how relate to why I can't find the stupid bagel that was just on my desk???!!!!!
